Social pressures among the brain dead is rough. These people will always exist with or without the visual catalyst.

Whatever you think your escaping will just take another form.

I empathize with you - especially with kids in the car. Makes my blood boil people would project their madness onto random people. But if you cave and sell, what will they make you do next? Now you have to vote for who they want or else? Live outdoors because there is someone homeless somewhere?

Like many stated the kid element really bothered me.

My kids are young and love it, but in driving thru my suburbia, Iv had at least 2 kids that looked like 5-6th graders flipping me the bird.

makes me really wonder about parents who would send their kids out doing stuff like that. Seems like it could get the poor kid in trouble with someone not so nice.

Thank you so much that does make a lot of sense I was also considering wrapping to a dark or camo color so it won’t attract attention stupid people tend to like shiny things lol me included

I understand the dilemma; the fear is real, especially when one's kids are involved. (We drive one in Staten Island, and things have been OK lately, maybe one flipped bird in the past month. And when we drive to, say, rural Pennsylvania or NJ, we only get positive comments and questions. And even in Manhattan, we get positive interest from some of the masses of tourists on the sidewalks, especially we think from the internationals who have apparently never seen one IRL.) BUT, considering the money you would lose, you could garage the Cybertruck for literally years, and lease a Y or whatever, until all this totally blows over, and still be ahead on money, especially in terms of personal long-term net worth... In other words, I think it would be a mistake to lock in the loss (and any associated replacement cost) immediately; hopefully it will no longer even be a thing over time, now that Elon is mostly out of Washington D.C. (And maybe it won't. But you can always sell it later for not very much more of a markdown, if any; or perhaps an uptick in price if FSD ever lives up to it's true potential and becomes worth much, much more...)

((It's a truck, you need to get like 15 years out of it to make any sense financially. Hopefully it will be driving you around someday while you totally relax; or out making money on the Tesla Cybercab network...))

Thanks for all the love and advise I really do appreciate all of you and thanks for the opinions. I think we might end up wrapping it in camo and see how that comes out , it’s something we were planning on anyway and it’s vinyl wrap so should
Be easy to change later on , thanks everyone!

Yea I was also thinking of holding and summer is coming up so school almost out for the kids, does anyone know what the beast might be worth? I have a model 3 as well but this beast especially in manhattan brings the worst out of people it’s so sad
I think the opposite: the fact that your kids are getting picked on just gives them the option to develop resilience (and/or fight back FUD by debating the merits of the truck).

I say keep it and let your kids grow their minds by able to a) not care what others think, and b) develop their arguments both for and against owning a Cybertruck. How old are your kids, btw?

Some arguments for a Cybertruck:
1) Greatest tech
2) Cheap to operate
3) Very durable with the exoskeleton structure
4) One of the safest vehicles on the planet
5) Very long life, and the Tesla developed 4680 batteries seem to be holding better than other batteries that Tesla employes in its other cars
6) Incredible performance
7) Steer-by-wire is a game-changer, assuming you are not on FSD all the time
8) Adjustable air suspension allows you to drive the truck on any road conditions
9) PowerShare allows you to run your home during outage
10) Very spacious and practical with a tonneau cover that locks

A few arguments against a Cybertruck:
1) Expensive so many folks can't afford it
2) Looks, while subjective, means that some folks just don't like its design
3) "Safety" concerns when some think that it isn't as safe due to lack of crumple zone (LOL)
4) Gets attention everywhere, even still
5) 35" tires ain't cheap to replace

I can't seem to find any other argument against the truck. Anyone else?

You’re joking but honestly I think that this would disarm a lot of people that want to be assholes. I wouldn’t drive around with it but as camouflage for a few more months or years until it dies down this might be the way for OP to enjoy his truck and silent some of the douche bags
It'd also likely be way cheaper than the financial hit associated with getting rid of a new truck.

Honestly, while I understand it's more sensitive an issue when your kids are involved; maybe this is a good opportunity to explain to them that while everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn't mean that you need to care about it. If you laugh it off and just explain that some people don't know how to control their emotions, that'll hit differently than showing that a complete stranger giving you the finger actually affects you.

The bullying is another issue, but kids find a million things to pick on other kids about. If your kids learn from you that that type of nonsense carries no weight, it'll be better in the long run.

I'm glad if my perspective adds dimension to your thought process, before you make any final decision with such significant financial implications. In line with your thoughts on a camo or dark wrap, I commented--sort of facetiously--to another commenter that if you went with a "peace, love, and understanding" 1960's psychedelic/hippie-style wrap, it would probably fend off pretty much any hate... (Admittedly, at an extreme aesthetic hit...)

Thinking of Selling My Cyberbeast – Need Some Advice

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a proud Cyberbeast owner since late August, and let me tell you—when I first got it, I absolutely loved it. Every time I got behind the wheel, it put a smile on my face. The performance, the design, the whole experience—it really lived up to the hype for me.

But lately, I’m struggling.

I commute into NYC from New Jersey for work, and the hate this truck gets here is honestly starting to wear me down. It’s not just dirty looks—I’ve had random people flip me off, walk up to my truck shouting at me, and just give off a ton of hostility. Normally, I’d brush it off, but my young kids are often in the car with me. Recently, they’ve started getting picked on at school because of it, and that’s where it crossed the line for me.

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m seriously considering selling it. I still love the truck, but I don’t think I can enjoy it anymore under these circumstances.

Has anyone gone through something similar? Do you know if Tesla would buy back the truck? Mine’s a Cyberbeast with around 4,000 miles on it. I realize I’ll probably take a loss, but at this point, I’m looking for peace of mind.

Any advice or insight would mean a lot. Thanks in advance
You don't need our approval to sell it, anymore than I need the approval of every Dick, Karen and Brandon in the world to justify keeping mine. Just sell it and be glad it hasn't depreciated as much as a similarly priced Ford Raptor would have! On the private market it's still very much in demand if it hasn't been too customized.

This is why I just do me. I don't worry about what idiots think. In fact, it's a strategic advantage because it secretly repels gulible idiots. The people it attracts are genuinely nice people.

Expensive? The rear wheel drive sells for $62,490. There are F150s on the road that are in the six figures. Your best option is to keep it, drive it, and ignore idiots, or better yet pity them and teach your kids to do the same.

I think the opposite: the fact that your kids are getting picked on just gives them the option to develop resilience (and/or fight back FUD by debating the merits of the truck).

Easy to be a tough guy when it's just yourself but when the kids are getting blowback, it's much harder. Sorry you're going through this. None of us should judge if you have to give it up, but it stings letting the terrorists win one.
Tell us you are not a fit parent, without telling us! This is an excellent teaching opportunity, use it to laugh at how silly some people are. Use it to teach your kids about how easily fooled some people are and how they don't want to be one of those gulible people, but to forge their own destiny. That they are in charge of who they are and what they believe.

Why does that make you feel angry? I get a chuckle out of it. Sure, it's sad, but it's not my sadness, heck, I don't even like them, why should I feel sorry for them?
