Day 2 with the CyberTruck AWD - Delivery Experience and Initial Impressions

Delivery Experience:
- Tesla Long Beach, CA
- Staff was friendly, smiles and handshakes
- But the car was "cleanish", not clean
- One guy talked with me for 2 minutes about the truck, but he seemed to not know a lot about what's supposed to come with it
- And that was it. They said I could drive the car over to the dirty red carpet so we could take some selfies (which we did).
- The fanfare with the smoke machine, the music, etc. - that's all over with now. This was more like "your car's over there, congratulations! bye!"

Initial Impressions (Day 2):
- Damn, this thing is BIG! First truck for me (unless you count the Wrangler)
- Quick learning curve coming from a Model Y
- Steer by wire takes like 2 minutes to adjust to
- At first I felt that the steering wheel was too small, but now I love it!
- Being a city boy I like driving in the low position, which is still much taller than a car
- So quiet! As soon as you shut the door you can hear the difference
- Not as fast as my MYP, but definitely fast enough
- Ride's like butter. How did they do this?
- 4WS is awesome; truck feels like it's half the size
- Barely fits in my garage! Touches the front and the back with garage door closed. Guess I'm gonna need a bigger house!
- Tech is superior to any other car out there
- Missed opportunity to not have a pass-thru rear window. Will someone in the aftermarket please fix this!?
- In Socal, people seem to already be used to seeing Cybertrucks. I know I was seeing at least one a day in the wild. So if you are an attention-whore, you will need to move on to the next "it" car, cuz it seems that this one is already getting yawns on the street.

Thank you to Elon, Franz, Lars, and the entire Tesla team including all the awesome folks at Gigafactory Austin for building such a unique and fantastic vehicle. No other company on the planet could've pulled this off!

Biggest miss for me is pass through window. Hoping TSportline or someone has a quality replacement soon

Biggest miss for me is the 6th seat. That just woulda been so sweet and convenient. They still went out and made CT better in many different ways.

I'm expecting my garage to be JUST big enough. I think the easier solution for us is some kind of auto-park that squeezes it in and out (summon?) of its exact position rather than having to do it ourselves.

Great write up. I never tire of reading about new owner impressions.

I was running errands on Saturday and counted a total of 5 CT’s. The Austin factory must be increasing production at a steady rate.

Volume production in 2025 would awesome. The bulk of reservation holders are waiting for the non-FS trucks to go into production.

I think the front bench seat got killed because they wouldn't be able to have an airbag for the middle seat with the screen in the way.

Dude, my truck touches the front and the back of my garage with the door closed. I just can't do that everyday. It's sitting outside on the driveway now.

My VIN was 13XXX, and now they're up to 15XXX, so seems like they're pumping out 1000/week. I think it's time to end the Foundation Series and start getting the standard CT's out there at the lower prices. I realize that I paid a $20K premium, but hey, I wanted the experience sooner than later so it was worth it to me. I thought my Model Y Perf was the best car ever, but I was wrong. CT is a whole 'nother level above!

Congrats! Looks beautiful!

I'm glad it's not drawing too much obvious attention in Los Angeles, but that is definitely not the case up here in Washington! And Washington is one of the countriy's larger EV markets.

Also glad the silly smoke shows are done. We don't do that kind of tomfoolery up here, I mean, it's just a truck, it's not like it's your first-born baby!

But oh, what a truck it is! I've never driven anything that could come close to comparing!

Great write up, OP!! Congrats!!

I’m on Day 5 (AWD 11xxx) and loving it more everyday. I’m also coming from a MY (2020) and you're so right, there’s no comparison, haha!!

I cannot wait for FSD to be downloaded to this awesome machine!!

To put that comment in perspective, the Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in the entire world! It outsells every gas car offered by Toyota, Honda, etc. The media keeps pretty hush-hush about this little fact.

I'm not saying the Cybertruck will ever outsell the Model Y, it won't. But it's pretty apparent that the Cybertruck is upping the game for other vehicles, that it will force other manufacturers to make better vehicles. The sad thing is it will take them 5-8 years to respond meaningfully.

Congrats!
I'm in Newport Beach and took delivery 2 weeks ago. Taking a short drive today, I saw 5 Cybertrucks. I'm glad the truck isn't a spectacle anymore but I doubt these trucks will blend in anytime soon.

Damn, 5 CTs on one drive? Most I've seen is 2 on one outing, but pretty much catch at least one every time I hit the road. I assume that the "Cybertruck wave" is a thing now between owners?? I will be enthusiastically waving at any CT that I see now!

I also saw 5 Cybertruck’s on Saturday during my 14-mile round trip to the Costco in Irvine, CA. I was shocked that none were wrapped.

Maybe you saw the same one more than once?
