The wiper does not clean the glass effectively, and I usually need to spray for at least 3 to 5 swipes to make any impact. I’m considering plugging the outermost nozzle, since most of that fluid gets flung out of reach.

The “thud” when reversing direction is mitigated by a hydrophobic coating on the glass.

Spraying fluid on the down swipe would be unhelpful, since the blade is moving in front of the spray.

Has anyone else heard about a new wiper coming out very soon?

I took my CT to service, the wiper would go 10 times at high speeds back and forth and then stop, regardless of the setting I picked. This happened for a few weeks and then the wiper magically fixed itself days before the service appointment. During the weeks it didn't work i had to manually press the button every 30 seconds, it was a pain because it rained every day for basically 3 weeks straight.

We weren't able to replicate the issue at the service center, but it was thought that perhaps there was something blocking the camera. If there's a small piece of debris in the right spot on the front camera, it can cause the wiper to malfunction.

I was told to make an appointment in two weeks, as the improved wiper that should clean the camera area better should be available by that time. Does anyone already have the improved wiper? Does anyone else know about it? Apparently the part number will be different than the wiper already on CTs.
I don’t but they certainly need one.

Perhaps we can also get the windshield washer fluid to dispense on both swipe directions.

Currently only sprays on up-swipe and is simply not enough to keep window clean, expecially when road salt spray dries on windshield
What I have noticed is that the nozzles do not dispense washer fluid in a spray but in a stream, so Tesla is counting on the wiper to spread the fluid. I see nothing wrong with the motor, per se, but with the wiper blade design. Maybe making the holes smaller or increasing the pressure would get a spray pattern. Just a guess.

Interesting. Will be watching this thread for updates.

Side question: it appears normal for the CT wiper to do one wipe and stay at the bottom of the windshield in a horizontal position for a little bit then randomly wipe back up to the normal stationary position?
yes, that is normal. The point is to keep the water down the windshield and let it run off the edges before the wiper goes back to the park mode.

I'm hoping it's to address the actual safety issue with mine, blurry streak. right at eye level https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/wiper-blade-issue-blurry-streak.12400/
That is what I was talking about. The blade nozzles don't cover the windshield so the blade leaves streaks. It is most noticeable when you try to clean a dusty windshield. Unfortunately, as noted by another poster, to get the windshield clean you have to make many swipes and that forces a 'lot' of windshield wiper fluid out, most of which ends up on the sides of the car.

This isn’t necessarily related to lack of liquid. Even in heavy rain and downpour the issue is present.

Spraying fluid on the down swipe would be unhelpful, since the blade is moving in front of the spray.
Or:
Spraying fluid on the up swipe would be unhelpful, since the blade wipes it before it can spread, leaving you about 7 lines of clear arc. I'd rather have a good couple of soaking swipes.

I received the new wiper with my recent motor recall appointment. I didn't really have issues with either, but the new one is much more efficient at distributing water fluid. It's hard to prove this, but I also get a sense that it's softer rubber, no smears at all for me. I'm happy with it. It's a wiper. It wipes it wet, it wipes it dry.

I hope they update to where it slows down while dispensing washer fluid like my Benz…. I feel the speed of the wiper is too fast and the fluid isn’t enough to soak and wipe away the dirt. Anyone else?
Yes, washer fluid isn't enough to even cover the whole length of the wiper blade, so I get clean streaks directly under the nozzles, and dirty stripes everywhere else. Either needs slower swipe of the wiper or more washer fluid volume or pressure.

I have a service appointment the 1st week of January and one of the items I listed was the streak in the middle similar to what @loki posted about here. We'll see what they do. I think it's definitely an engineering issue where the arm doesn't apply enough pressure at that one point. It's been like that since day 1.

Yeah, and the smudging I get is right in my FOV so I usually have to put the wipers on 2 or 3 to get them going fast enough to remove the smudge.

Just experienced this exact issue last night after the light snow we had in the Boston area. This issue is legit.

Only way I was able to clean the windshield was to hit a car wash. I really hope Tesla will be able to issue a fix for it…I’m confident they will, the question is how long will it take.

The wiper is annoying for a lot of reasons.
1) It wipes needlessly, periodically, when everything is completely dry (desert climate). This is irritating.
2) it bounces into "auto" mode all the time. I just want it OFF and to STAY OFF.
3) The squirting function is next to useless in dirty snow conditions (driving in traffic), which is when it is needed the most.

It does look really cool though! Just make it work better.
