Hi all -

Like many, received my Non-Foundation Series order letter in the past few days. I placed my order back on 2/4/2020 - so over 4.5 years ago (RN11324****). I was a bit surprised to receive this e-mail - I wasn't expecting it (based on reservation number and this forum), until late next spring.

Logged into the website and disabled the $5500 fuel cost savings, and enabled the $7500 tax rebate. I'm presuming that since they allowed that, its real?

Most things were pretty much as expected, except the FSD option, when I ordered, was "locked in" at $2500. Now its $1000 off the current price? That was a significant discrepancy.

Financing price was reasonable at 5.29% for 72 months - Chase pre-approved me at 5.25%. Called my State Farm agent and he quoted me $657/6-months, which seem cheap enough.

Cash at time of order was a bit over $1000 - fine.

Now its time to decide and I have a few reservations:

1) Is the $7500 tax credit (live in Missouri, USA) real? Reads like that is for Commercial Clean Credit companies only?
2) Is the $1000 off for FSD reality or will there be some later adjustments for early reservation holders father down the ordering process?
3) Given that the 1,000,000 queue seems to have evaporated, and that the $1000 FSD is my "only" advantage (shy ordering priority) for being an early reservation holder:
3a) Interest rates are expected to drop within the next couple of months (election results might change that)
3b) If the queue is empty, will Tesla being offering deals soon (price break due to better battery yields, lower financing (worth thousands), more competitive pricing vs Ford and others?)
4) Presumably the 2025 models will be out soon?

Basically I was all for this truck when it was $59,990 + $2500 ($62500) + misc. fees - potential electric vehicle rebates. I know, almost 5 years has past, but at an average of 5% annual inflation (had to pick a number), that should be more like $76000 than $79,990 + $7000 ($87000).

Either way, this truck is going to cost more than my first house (I'm old).

Thoughts, comments, and clarifications all welcome!

I got the Foundation early as it wasn't a financial issue for me. That being said the earlier versions of foundations had a few issues that are being fixed or have already been fixed as Elon fixes and upgrades daily.

Like yourself, I expected to have the vehicle around 50 K in and up paying twice they cost with less features.

if it was a financial concern, I would have waited at least one year post production to give them time to get all the bugs out of the system. Currently, I believe the production models do not have any major glitches. I would just make sure you get a current one and a non-foundation version sense uniqueness went away after the production continued for so long.

there are some issues such as range, , gate opener, Sirus radio, etc., that I would like to see added to the standard version. Also make sure you do a water test to make that your rear area does not leak

With it being so late in the year I struggle to understand why buyers aren’t waiting for 2025 production to start before placing a Cybertruck order. Most of us have patiently waited 5 years, what’s another couple of months.

Tesla is not like the legacy automakers with respect to model year changes. They integrate changes throughout the build year, rather than saving them up for the next model year.

Tesla doesn't do model years, they make updates and improvements throughout the year, they don't wait to make a new model at the end of each year. Search for 2016 Model S images, there are 2 very different front ends for that same year, they just started updating the front end about midway through the year.

FSD was 7,000, not 2,500 for the earliest reservation holders.

The tax credit is only for business write off.

The 2025 units start shipping mid November, sometimes they start producing in late October, but they have to go through pre-built vehicles first.

I wouldn't expect any CT discounts for a while. We don't even know if the truck is profitable, yet. It just was released as non-FS recently. We won't see any discounts unless after the non-FS opens to the public and it's not selling, which would be a while.

Also, there are no short term plans for any significantly improved range. In fact, the non-FS appears to have less range than the FS.

Mid November sounds about right for 2025 production units. We are roughly a month away.

If you can afford it and want it then why wait ? Who cares if it’s 24 or 25 it will be the same resale would be more based on condition and miles on it. Waiting may work out but I would lean to it not making a difference and you could have had it now. I was originally a RWD order got the FS invite waited a month and then said to my self “I want this truck what am I waiting for “? I got it I never once have had buyers regret or felt I should of waited or over paid

Unfortunately financials due come into play. I'm retired, and since I tend to drive vehicles at least 20 years, this is likely my final car purchase, at least for myself. Wife might get one more.

Basically, I like the Cybertruck, but the $20,000 price bump, lack of tax rebate that is available on alternatives ($7,500), and bump of FSD from $2,500 to $7,000 adds up to real money. I have a self directed IRA so can "afford" it, but at the cost of reducing future spending ability.

Have you done a demo drive? It's what convinced me to wait since after all the hype I've built up it felt so ...normal. I'll be waiting another couple months to see if the price drops since my current car still works.

It's still too far in the range of "look at me I have money" for my likes.

The price could drop $20k just like the plaid series, if that happens will you feel regret? For most people who own, I think the answer is no. For me, it would be yes.

I'm not seeing the $7,500 option, is that a state incentive where you live?

Yeah I get it. It boils down to what makes you happy? If you love the truck and it’s something that would bring you joy and spend allot of time using and attention to it then it might be worth missing a trip a year to have it now. If it’s just a truck to you that isn’t really nothing but in the driveway and look out at it sometimes then yeah probably better to be able to spend your extra cash in other areas of your life. Unfortunately I don’t see any tax breaks coming true or major price flux coming anytime soon and it seems 10000 are doing the “I will wait to see” thing . Its the most I’ve ever spent on a vehicle and for a month It scared me going back and forth then when I ordered it , it really scared me and was having stress thinking “what am I doing?” Even when I picked it up I was like “do I really need this expensive of a truck But now all that went an away. I love it. Go test drive one.

Yeah, a $10K or $20K price drop within 6-months would seriously annoy me, but little I could do about it.

Test driving isn't an option. We live in Rural NE Missouri. Like 15 miles to the closet gas station with my nearest neighbor over a 1/2 mile away. 20 miles to a town of 20,000. 100 miles to a town > 100,000. 200 miles to a real "city", like St. Louis, or Kansas city. On the flipside, last time I called for roadside assistance to replace a tire (shortly after I had my knee replaced so was unable to do it myself), the guy charged me $20 for the service.
