I just noticed that the light bar is now on at all times. I noticed this from the display graphic of the truck showing the “beam” on. Never saw this till now that I recall. I don’t see any setting where this can be controlled like DRL type feature. I’d rather they not be on when it’s full sun/day light. Have I missed something? Did an software update just change the graphics status or ?

My brother in Christ, they are Daytime-Running-Lights ?

But no, I don't think we have the option yet to tune them. I think we will soonish.

i knew of the DRL purpose, but I'd not noticed the on-screen display actually showing their depiction of the actual beam of light. I'm pretty sure I'd not seen that prior, but who knows. I have had other vehicles where you had the option to run with them on or not. I realize some states require them, while others do not. I'd personally like the choice if asked. We will see if Tesal eventually allows or not. Thank you.

I don't know any states in the US which require DRLs, but I believe Canada does.

Being able to disable it in nighttime precipitation has been pointed out as important: The headlight position minimizes reflection from precipitation but the frunk light does the opposite.

You’re right. No states currently require them outright (at least per a recent google search). But a handful require while windshield wipers are in use or during rain/limited visibility. The fed has not placed a requirement because they say insufficient evidence to support exists. Your point/example is one reason it would be reasonable to have a choice. Let’s hope Tesla eventually hears us.

Yeah, but illumination is DRLs or headlights, so turning off only one wouldn't collide with any laws requiring illumination during times of limited visibility.

I hope Tesla adds the option in snow mode.

Clearly the entire bar is addressable, based on the corners only on in camp mode, the sliding flash with locking, etc. There absolutely needs to be a toggle in the lighting settings that allows you to specify "off when headlights on". It's dangerous in absolute darkness with heavy wet snow or thick fog. It illuminates exactly the *opposite* to a good fog light and damn near killed me in heavy wet snow before Christmas. I carry a roll of duct tape now, in case I'm in the same predicament again.

It's not an issue UNTIL you hit, literally, the perfect storm. Then you'll be cursing.

Couldn't agree more that at night in conditions of snow, fog and mist the frunk light bar needs to be either turned off or turned down. Couple weeks back, I had a 3 hour drive to northern Vermont in a night time snow storm and I was wishing for a way to dim that frunk light bar.

I also think it's pretty bright for oncoming traffic when dark out. Hard to appreciate until another CT approaches you
