What looks like height variation may have been where the pink detached from the insulator rather than the fets. Per a contact, it takes some effort to de-pink the PCB after separation.
I've done that de-pinking... I saw a gradient in obviously not ripped pink. The heatsink mating surface of the part was obviously not parallel with the cold wall. We had thousands of messed up boards. We custom milled heatsinks so we could still use them. We had tested millions of parts, and selected only the best 1% of them for use.

There are many things that could be an issue. I'd need to see the PCB and hopefully have the circuit diagram and all documents. Then seeing it under operation. They are using PCB coils. Been there, done that, licked my wounds, and figured out solutions. Wide flat conductors don't act quite the same electromagnetically as square or round ones. For most this isn't an issue, unless one is pushing limits. Do they need to cool the coils? Are they pushing the power/frequency limits of the FETs or the gate drive system for them? That may cause more heating in the FETs. Are multiple things being pushed so combined extra heating is pushing it close to the limits. How much are they pushing the limits? Approaching some limits can drastically lower long term life. Approaching multiple limits definitely will.

Confirmed: Free supercharging!
I have the service alert “PCS2_a094 AC Charging Unavailable”. No charge at home so I bee-lined for my nearest supercharger. Charging just fine there, but I became a bit uncomfortable to notice the cost on the meter was almost double than what would be normal at that time (and I was the only one there). But… no charge to my credit card.
By the way, I drove about 200 miles this morning, down through Seattle and then back up through Bellevue, WA, and I noticed there were at least twice as many Cybertrucks on the road than Rivian. This is surprising to me because this whole area is very wealthy and leans socialist, therefore, anti-Cybertruck. I’ve noticed a lot more Cybertrucks on the road in the past few months. Feels good!

The remelting of the solder and hanging there suspended by the solder helps improve centering of the part.

I'd need to see a current board to know what they are now doing. The board Monro had definitely had FETs that were not parallel with the PCB. The impressions they made in the heat transfer goop looked like the FETs were off angle like the bottom side FETs for a board I designed. When we moved all the FETs to one side and soldered it last, it fixed the thermal problem. Thin supports during soldering can also be used to keep the parts level.
I got to say this again: The technical knowledge on this board is beyond incredible.. I am proud to be part of it and the cybertruck community in general. I'd originally thought this may be a heat stress problem. And if it is indeed a soldering problem even more to support the knowledge on this board. As an aside note this post reminds of a situation, I had recently (6yrs ago) a TV that failed. Some one on google said ro remove the motherboard and put it in the oven at 200 degrF for 10 mins, or something similar like that. AMAZINGLY it worked three times for over two years. Guess I reflowed that solder until there wasn't enough remaining to make the connection.

MY PCS2 failled on May 11th, i dropped it off at the service center, waiting for part, prjected pick up time is May 21st.

my friend's PCS2 failed awhile ago, but he can still charge at 24A at home.

it appears this is a widespread issue.

BTW, i got a Model y as a loaner. the FSD is way better in every aspect

I just got the badge of honor yesterday. Reported to Tesla with pics. Waiting for parts. They gave me free supercharging till then. Thankfully I have a Super Charger 5 min away.

Welp, shit. I knew I never should’ve posted that poll. 🫤

Digging into this a little deeper because now I’m honestly not sure. Re-plugging it in I’m seeing 48 again and the warning code that I’m throwing is not the typical codes that I’m seeing associated with PCS failure? 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s a triple digit day and I am using an extension cord from EVDance which has not given me any problems prior to today so I’m honestly not sure what to think right now.

I put in a service request so I guess they’ll reject me if they don’t think it’s actually a PCS issue. Going to move some cars and plug directly into the wall charger without the extension and see if anything changes. 🤔
