Photos: Windows rolled down & windshield wiper coverage area

I think the offset and reverse parking of the CTs looks funny in a group like in the photo. The straight edges and low poly geometry of the flat surfaces is confusing, unlike curved cars that are parked next to eachother, that somehow blend into eachother.

I suppose we'll get used to owning and looking for the squarest looking truck in the lot.

Hypothesis: all wives are competent co-pilots and trained their design eye on designer purses, shoes and clothing..

Hypothesis validation:

1). make the CT come with at least one designer bag, one designer pair of shoes, and one great designer dress for her. Then the CT becomes the vessel of great design .... AND

2). listen to the first 666 directions .. you would not be where you are if it wasn't for those.... so be grateful.

I don’t understand the complaints regarding the unibrow wiper. It cleans the windshield just fine.

I’m more concerned about rear seat passengers banging their head getting in/out of the truck because of the low roofline.

Yep, definitely sacrificing ingress/egress for aero. If the range holds up for such a heavy vehicle (7,000ish lbs?) then it will be worth it. I’m thinking it will match the Model X at 348.

If I was tasked to make that BAW work, I would put all my mental energy in figuring out a reliable mechanism to make the same BAW move laterally instead of traditional rotation. Not saying it is easy, but their optimus mechanical engineers could figure it out. In addition to covering all of the windshield, it has aerodynamic benefits at high speed. As is, when BAW is in lower position, it‘s entire length is fighting air and raindrops and totally screws up the smooth slope in front. At high speed, that additional drag is kind of a drag.

Or another wiper attached at the top on the passenger side that moves in tandem with the lower one. They’re staggered slightly and they both sweep down at about the same time (passenger-side trailing the driver-side). Both could be stored vertically to reduce drag.

This is based entirely on what it looks like from the outside.
In practice you can't look through at least the top 8-12" of the windshield anyway, even more if you include the glass that bonds to the top of the frame, so the patch missed on the remaining visible portion seems to be the same as most other cars/trucks.

I thought that their electromagnetic wiper patent was a good idea, but it must have proven impossible or unrealistic to implement at this time.

I wonder how many husbands are going through this problem. My wife hates when i talk about CT with her but I do it anyway because aside from this forum of nerds i have no one else to talk to about it lol. She's a captive audience.

Whenever i show her a video, it could have 12 awesome things in it and 1 less awesome thing and she would only come away with the less awesome thing.

Like that one I posted yesterday. She heard the guy say that it dents easy, which we all know to be incorrect and her take away after the video was, oh its gonna be hard to clean and it dents easy....

I'm like, why would i clean it? (But realistically i will, every 4 minutes [i know, not a real truck guy lol]) and then i pulled up the sledgehammer clip... to which she responded, but didnt the windows break in that video?....

Or two blades inside the bow. One stationary and one (at the tip) extends and retracts just in time to cover the missed area.

People confuse the glass area seen from the outside, with the glass area visible from the inside.

In other words, they think the entire front glass is ‘windshield’ proper, but it’s not

Facing the windshield, the topmost ~12” of glass running east-west is both over the heads of the driver (eg not in field of vision) as well as obscured by sun visor it’s and other trim pieces.

Facing the windshield, the leftmost and rightmost strips running north south, about 6” wide, are also backed by trim pieces.

Then finally, facing the windshield and running east-west at the bottom of the windshield, is another 8+ inches of glass backed by trim and not visible.

below in blue is actual ‘windshield’ proper, in orange is headliner/visors, and in red is the wiper arch
