Hello everyone,

Today I was going to waterproof my Tonneau cover in accordance with the YouTube videos. However, I ran into an issue in the beginning removing the Tonneau Applique so I can install some waterproof seals.

Bottomline, I can't locate the T30 screw I am supposed to unscrew. I had everything ready, including my T30 screwdriver, but my configuration is not matching what is shown in the service manual ( Tonneau Applique (Remove and Install) )and the YouTube videos.

Here is a graphic so you can see the issue:

What the heck, man??!? Did Tesla remove this bolt to prevent us from removing the applique?

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey, Dawg.. I did mine not long ago (I am going to have to try it again, because it is still dripping.

Mine definitely had the T30. It kinda looks like the head of yours was sheared off. Can you feel it to see if it's jagged? If so, I wonder if you can pull the bracket toward the middle to get it past the stud, then see it better to fix it..

Hope you get it!

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply. The bolt looks like it has been sheared off, but both sides are identical. I just went out there and felt it and it is completely flat. Also, my Cybertruck has a black plastic lever in this area that other CTs do not have. I can move the lever a little bit but it appears to do nothing.

I took a more zoomed in photo.

Now that I am thinking about it... I did have the SC install my CyberTent for me. I haven't used the tent yet.

For those of you with a CyberTent, is this what the SC installs? How do you remove the applique?

I had a slight leak on the right corner. I tried the youtube fix worked for a while but subsequenlty leaked. Best option I found is this rubber window seal someone recommended on face book. No need to remove the appliqué. Try this it’s cheap fix from Amazon. Align the adhesive part along the glass portion. Use the adhesive cure swab for good adhesion. Water will flow over the seal. Looks great if aligned properly.

Good recommendation. I'm actually testing a DIY kit from a vendor on here before they send it to market. Hopefully it works.

I took mine into the SC for some other issues and also listed a leaking tonneau cover. They fixed it for the most part. Maybe a slight drip when I am spraying it directly with a hose. There is a known fix for this now it seems

Problem is that some SCs will tell you that some leakage is expected and they will not fix. A few threads on the matter.

You have the updated version, that's a flip/ lever lock, no T30 driver needed.

Concur. I don't do the SC unless I have to. 3 month wait for service, just to tell you that "it is within spec".

I think I understand what you want to do - you want to take the lateral piece off that goes from left side to right side.

if that’s the case - reference your last photo. Pull the top of the black plastic button aft and lift the trim. That will release that side. The tent install basically makes the trim piece - quick release. No tools needed.

Perfect. That is what I will do. Thank you so much.
