I am from California and we have to use the NEM Solar program. Does anyone know if power share will knock you off NEM 2.0 and put you on 3.0? That’s the reason why I haven’t added back up batteries yet.

I’ve been told it will not. Looking at proposal to install powershare now.

As long as you do not change/increase the inverter or solar array by over 10% then you are grandfathered in to NEM 2.0

Adding battery storage such as Powerball three or the new 3V Gateway does not constitute a system change to force a nem 3 change

I hate dealing with the solar companies here all of them have told me if I add batteries that will knock me off any nem 2.0 and put me on NeM 3.0

This was true for my neighbor. So I would investigate. Generally when commissioning is required of a "New" system, they force you onto new plans.

This is not correct. The only reason your neighbor or anybody else would get knocked from NEM 2.0 to 3.0 because they replaced the inverter with a new inverter that was 10% larger in size or added to their solar array. Currently if you add a Powerwall three to your system and want to use your existing 10 KW inverter or smaller without triggering a 3.0 change you will need to wait until the update is released that allows you to disable the internal 11.5 kW inverter.

you sound very knowledgeable. I had a question, I have two different solar systems from two separate companies both on NM 2.0 (got a great deal on second set of solar panels from a. Different company) would I be able to add power wall and use PowerShare?

Short answer is yes, absolutely.

note that you do not need a powerwall for power share. All you need is the new 3V back up gateway and a compatible main panel
