Is spending thousands on PPF really worth it? What kind of ROI do you actually get when it’s time to resell the CT? I plan on getting clear coat.

Is PPF investment worth it, I’m planning on getting clear coat self healing. Do you get a good ROI when you resell.
First principle question is:
What does PPF stand for? Answer: *PAINT* Protective Film.

Second question is:
Does the Cybertruck contain *PAINT* to protect? Answer: No...

PPF for a Cybertruck is purely cosmetic.

On my 2018 Model 3, I DIY'd PPF, and I was glad I did. After 6yrs, I removed it, and the bumper looked pristine.

On a Cybertruck, it's not really a necessity; but, DIY PPF is cheap! ~$500.

I did it because it was the height of craziness, and I figured a little protection couldn't hurt.

Like others said, it’s cosmetic and only there to make your truck a different color. PPF protects paint because the wrap is harder than paint. The wrap isn’t harder than HFS. Anything that would damage the HFS in any way will destroy the wrap, making a clear wrap thoroughly pointless.

Only question is: is PPF worth it over vinyl? I’d say yes if you’re truly dedicated to your color choice and want longevity out of it. Vinyl wraps WILL tear and peel within 3-5 yrs and look like garbage. Good PPF will last 7-10 yrs.

Oh and as far as ROI, Tesla will actually deduct money from their trade-in offer if you have a wrap. If you remove it, you might get a little more for keeping the paint in good condition, but that’s kind of impossible to know.

That’s for the sexy cars - for CT, your ROI will be absolutely nothing.

Absolutely worth it to me but not because it protects the car and the ROI is $0.
One fringe benefit, I have ceramic on my ppf and making the thing look squeaky clean is super easy.

So will you be doing different themes as your kiddos grow up and start liking different things? Or is the Bluey theme secretly for you?

Both. I love the bluey thing and it’s also for me (don’t know if I’d call that “secret”) but I’ll definitely adopt something new moving forward.
I also want the kids to adopt an evolving approach to things and be flexible. Not hung up on one thing.
What better way to teach that than practice it?

I did the midnight Black and get complements daily, I just think the aesthetics are worth, whatever the cost, I love my Cybertruck and so do the public

My 5 cents after more than 1 year of CT ownership...
1. PPF on the CT is 95% cosmetic
2. Some non-cosmetic benefits though, in no particular order:
  • Easier to keep clean
  • The stainless steel is not immune to micro-scratches, the PPF will protect it from that
  • Less static discharges (if you get zapped every time you touch your CT, like I do)
  • Safer on the skin, especially for guests/kids who are not so careful (if your door edges are sharp)
  • The Cybertruck warranty won't cover scuffs, scratches, discoloration and rust spots. PPF will.

With that said, check out our DIY kit - best rated on the market, as it's made by us (actual CT owners) using our CT instead of just cutting some generic publicly available template. The reviews tell it all + we offer it in 300+ colors:

If DIY is not your thing, you can get our wrap professionally installed at one of these locations. We help coordinate everything, so you have a seamless online experience.

Most definitely worth more than Vinyl. 3 years after putting a matte black vinyl wrap on my MS it’s finally showing its wear. ($4500 with Crome delete 3 years ago.) Vinyl doesn’t protect much as it tears easily with the wrong road hazard or if Karen opens her SUV door the whole way - there goes your panel’s wrap and will need to be re-wrapped.

Return on investment on a Cybertruck would be a total loss. It will also add expense if you get in an accident and want to match the new panel(s) to the existing wrapped panels.

I don't see the point. Invest the money you would have spent on wrapping and watch it grow.
