The interesting thing is that if I recall correctly the Extender was supposed to be 50kWh or so, which makes me curious how that would work with the overall battery topology. Seems like if the main pack was two parallel strings of 61.5kWh, then it would be easy to parallel the Extender to them if it was also 61.5kWh.
As long as they keep the same chemistry and number of series groups per string, it's easy(ier) to link. Then capacity is then determined by the number of cells in each group.
Main pack is four 200V 58s7p modules
Extender could be four 200V 58s3p modules for 43% the capacity.

Nah, it all self equalizes. The main pack supplies more current and the extender less. On a per cell basis, everything looks the same.
