It's a car. What did you think would happen. We had one brief very weird period where cars were an appreciated or holding asset related to CV19 shutdowns. In all other times they are a rapidly depreciating asset and especially when you buy at the start with a Tesla....a car known for rapidly dropping prices.

Things are working as expected.

This is happening with all Teslas. Model 3s are not luxury or high priced vehicles and they are experiencing the exact same egregious price drops for resale. This is across the brand. It’s not happening in a vacuum.

What is this disease where people can’t face facts called? There seems to be an epidemic. 😷
This is wonderful! I think I will buy a bunch of them and sell them when people stop basing their car purchainsc decisions on tertiary concerns. But its an absolute banger time to get a great deal if true.

I think we saw the bottom earlier this week my friend. Things are going to ramp up very soon with Cybercab and Optimus production, let alone AI capabilities and unsupervised self driving inching closer. I bought a bunch of shares when they went on sale recently and have been watching them climb since.

Big things ahead for this company, despite the woke opposition.
Its didn't get down to my "buy" criteria but mine is set way to low because I am a coward. It is already back up alot. Also...the whole stock market is crashing for lots of reasons some of which are political and in the context of that Tesla has not been impacted dramatically more than others. Humans are fickle and irrational and some are additionally stupid, emotional, and violent. But over time I think Tesla will do ok if their CEO can focus on Tesla.

To that point, at least wait until after this summer, before you take a huge loss. If Elon is correct about Robotaxi network, the truck should be able to generate income for you as a ride/haul share. If that is the case, talk to your qualified tax attorney. Any ride share should be in an LLC. If you create an LLC, you may be able to sell your used cybertruck to your LLC, and claim section 179. That will mean the first $70 to $100K in revenue will be tax free, as immediate depreciation.
We should have a lot more info about how the Robotaxi network will work, by end of summer.
I am not a tax attorney, nor an accountant. But I have done some research on this, and this seems like a viable option.

The tricky part of this plan for you would be this, and that is why you need to discuss it with a tax attorney, not just an accountant:

Can I claim Section 179 on a used vehicle?

New & Used Vehicles: Section 179 applies to both new and used vehicles—provided they're “new to you” and purchased in an arms‑length transaction. Recapture Risk: If business use drops below 50% in future years—or if you sell the vehicle prematurely—the IRS may “recapture” part of your deduction.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since you want to get rid of the truck, if you make sure it is 100% used int he Robotaxi network, there may be steps that can be taken to make this work. If you plan to use it for personal use part of the time, you may get in to trouble with the new to you part. If you bought a new Cybertruck and used it partially personal and partially business, you would not have any problem, just classify it correctly on section 179. Again, not a lawyer, so get professional advice.

Don't mean they are selling. And that price is not the same as what they would give you for it, unless you try to do it privately.

Extreme ridiculous example right here (Carvana updated their offer for my Beast): I just checked again, its $43k now since March 2.

The Cheapest Cybertruck on Carvana right now is $83,500

This isn’t political per se. but as we all know, all of our cyber trucks have had a rapid depreciation due to the non Tesla related antics of its CEO. If I’d have known this is where we’d end up, despite the fact that I love my truck, I wouldn’t have bought it. Now I can’t get out of it because it’s worth less than I owe. Curios if any attorneys on here think there is a class in the making.
So after speaking to my legal attorney, she said that going against Tesla would be a waste of money and time. It is also not something that Elon Musk is trying to do personally. This is just a glorification of people who have nothing better to do than to try and destroy and mock a vehicle that is actually helping our environment.

Yes. I said something similar. However, that is based on facts on the ground today and the way that they are likely to develop. This assessment could change so as I said, “colorable.”

stock price is way up, $275 today, could had mad $40 a share is a week.
i Have a FS Cyberbeast, paid $131,768.00 Full FSD was $16,000 i got ripped off there,
only got $2500 in tesla credit, most others got more, i could not take advantage of Free Supercharging or Free wrap, or any other free stuff from tesla.
I'm ok, i'll survive, Not sure why you want to get rid of it. but if your drive and ICE Truck off the lot these days you will lose 30%, its just a fact.
I would not worry about the political stuff, when Trump and Elon send out the Refund checks, and as of this morning, they are expected to be over $9,000 and available in May
this may ease your pain.
and selling you truck back to tesla or and dealership, will always low ball, don't be surprised if
it comes back under $69k
now look at what it would cost to replace what you have, add in sales tax again, reg, fuel,
look at it from all angles and make the choice that best fit you.
Me, i am ready to purchase another Cyber truck a 2WD with the extended range battery,
just so i can Full FSD behind me so i can piss off the liberals.

as for lawyers, they will just take your money, not worth it
nobody can maniulipate the price of a vechicle.

If you didn't play on your truck dropping at least 20% in value then you are at fault. The truck has actually held it's value better than many thought considering the drop in pricing from FS to non-FS.

This sounds like a political issue for you.
most vehicle depreciate 20% when you drive them off the lot.

LOL, this is silly.

The vehicle is not depreciating any more than any other new vehicle. Nice try though.

You perhaps shouldn't have bought if you would potentially be upside down on it. I traded in my existing truck and paid down aggressively so far, so despite any possible depreciation, I have plenty of equity. And I doubt it's as bad as you think. These are solid vehicles.
I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted the rapid depreciation on the vehicles (because of “you know what”). It’s reasonable to expect the vehicle to depreciate at a rate that’s equal to other EV’s on the market. Even more so than mainline Tesla vehicles, the Cybertruck is experiencing almost unprecedented depreciation… I suppose next to a Fisker it’s better but other than that it’s pretty disappointing. Class action disappointing? Maybe. That’s for lawyers to decide.

The Cybertruck IS depreciating at a faster rate than other electric vehicles (EVs) and even its pickup truck category peers. Over five years, the Cybertruck is projected to depreciate by 59.5%, compared to 43.7% for all cars and 37.7% for pickups in general[1]. Additionally, Tesla vehicles overall are reported to be losing value three times faster than other brands, with the Cybertruck experiencing significant year-over-year drops in resale value[3]. Early reports also indicate that some Cybertruck models have lost up to 40% of their value within the first year[4].
