even human life depreciates but many still keep celebrating birthdays. Do you have any guarantee that you will get up/alive tomorrow-all things impermanent! Let people enjoy their amazing new toys and keep the speculation & apprehension out of the door.

I'm in same boat. RN 114xxx, JAN 2021. Just got Order Invite. Order now or get back in line. Thinking now is the time.
I agree..... YOLO and you can't bring it with you, so enjoy it if you can make it work. My son has already shotgunned my CT for when I'm gone lol

imagine if you could bring it with you… Satan would be begging for a ride… you may need to keep the cabin heat protection on while you give him a ride. Oh wait… I mean the angels…👼

I think the easiest thing you can do is to assume regular depreciation based on the standard base msrp without options, and minus any tax credits.
  • AWD CT will be at $80,000 - $7,500 - 20% - Tax Credit, so around $58-60k for the AWD in one year
  • Beast CT will be at $100,000 - 20%, so around $80k in one year.
This assumes Tesla stays somewhat constrained but ramps, and people who buy trucks actually like them and want to keep them. If demand from Tesla tanks, then they will become a competitor and will start to drop prices.

What could help foundation values is the certification of FSD, slower ramp, more expensive prices for options, special upgrades, finance support on new purchases to keep the demand going, etc.

I have my Beast and I am happy I moved forward. For the most part Tesla put their best thinking in current tech in the Truck. The only thing I could see coming is better, flatter panels, and maybe automatic doors. Which would be amazing for fingerprints.

If you are trying to sell in a year. Avoid the AWD at all costs. The Tax credit will hurt the secondary market. As people who get the tax credit will be able to sell theirs cheaper than you.

If the thought of any of this bums you out, then you should just wait. You will get a better built truck and can save SOME money by opting out of the options.

I am in a position to order an FSCT. I am concerned that the cost of NFSCT trucks (-$20,000) will absolutely crater the resale value of FSCT’s, especially if FSD continues to only be $99/month and there continues to be so many delays with the promised FS package components. Ive seen so many here who have been waiting for years for their truck have to pass on the FS trucks for those same reasons.

Some naysayers are predicting the FSCT’s wont be worth much more than $60-70k by the end of the year, which i doubt, but definitely well under $100,000 once NFS Beasts start selling for 99k, and people can claim the tax break on the dual motor…

How do you all think fs trucks will depreciate in a year or so?
With all your concerns maybe you should pass🤔

it is ridiculous to see this kind of discussion about car depreciation! Have you ever owned a brand new car? especially expensive one?! the moment you leave dealership lot your $100K car becomes $20k cheaper! Mass produced cars NEVER appreciate, NEVER! Just go to Cars.com and look at premium cars with low mileage and compare to their MSRP.

STOP whining, if you cannot stomach car depreciation, dont buy a new car, wait couple years and get used or buy Chevy :)

In the last 4 years, we lived in a world where used cars appreciate and dealers charge ADM to move inventory. With market normalization more prevalent, we find ourselves facing the reality of depreciating assets. That said, buying a new car is the worst thing you can do with your money. Worried about depreciation? Consider investing 50k into s&p and spending the other on a new Y - legit money better spent. But we’re a bunch of dummies that have been waiting 4 years for a lifted refrigerator :).

It will depreciate massively, but still.... it could never beat the blunder as bad as me buying a Model 3 Dual Motor for 18 Bitcoin in November 2018. It's worth 0.143 btc now lmao

So only a minor 99% depreciation.

Cars are definitely not an investment.
