Tesla: "To maintain service life, the battery pack should be stored at a state of charge (SOC) of 15 to 50%."

Cybertruck did not meet federal requirements. That non-conformance requires a recall campaign to track and correct the problem.
The use of an OTA software update to mitigate the problem doesn't change the base issue.
Except nothing is recalled. NHTSA is using an antiquated term that doesn't apply to Tesla.

Holy cow, there is literally not 1 news site where this is not front page news. They are practically frothing at the mouth for something that impacted almost no one and was fixed immediately.
But a mountain of comments. My co-workers were so worried that they kept telling me they are seeing all the recall headlines. I am surprised my truck has not exploded and taken out half a city block for all the articles that have been written. Holy smokes.
It was not front page news of any site I just checked. MSNBC, NBC, Fox News, CNN, NY Times, and USA Today. Where did you check?

edit: grammar

I just noticed this post in the recall section of the forum, and people are being weird about it.

Good to know how many CTs are in the wild. I hadn't noticed any delay's with the rear view camera....plan to remove the Rear View Mirror this weekend.
They are at almost 40,000 produced. I checked the VIN's on the assembly line last week.

Except nothing is recalled. NHTSA is using an antiquated term that doesn't apply to Tesla.
Recall doesn't mean going back to the shop, it's a process for addressing a safety or regulatory defeat.

Tesla uses it...
"On September 19, 2024, having completed its assessment, Tesla determined that a noncompliance exists and made a voluntary recall determination."
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V718-2751.PDF

... because that is the term the law calls out : "Each manufacturer submitting new information relative to a previously submitted report shall refer to the recall campaign number when a number has been assigned by the NHTSA."

Recall means bring back or return.

The only way legacy automakers could address an issue was to bring it back. So the term recall was appropriate back then. But it no longer is, at least not for Tesla.

I agree not sure why they're calling it a recall!
Because it's the wording of the law.

Everyone assumes that a recall means that it has to go visit a dealer. Mainly because that was the only way vehicles could be changed in the past.

It's a safety defect that must be fixed.
Tesla fixed.

Yah
(Though I'd classify this as a regulatory non-conformance, not safety defect)

I was reading on the Korean newspaper today and to my surprise I saw a picture of a CyberTruck. It states there’s a recall. When I further read into it, it’s for the rear camera. Saying it there’s a delay of roughly 6 to 8 seconds instead of it being instant. Thatā€˜s not the case with my CT. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, I haven’t heard or read about this recall from any source - here or anywhere except on the Korean newspaper.

It's a delay in activation under specific conditions. It still shows up and displays live video, just not in the federally required 2 seconds.
It is fixed in post Sept 19th software updates.

So, the Korean newspaper was slow to report it then.
