Except the notes are wrong because it's the first tube that blocks it. That inital gap could be 2 instead of 3 and we'd have the same problem.I also read the service manual more carefully, and there's a "note" about where to install the "fixation tubes" so that it doesn't block the rear window.
Looks like how mine only blocks a small portion of the top of the rear window is normal.

They need to remove the first tube entirely, then a gap of 3, then 2, then 2.
Edit... wait, so is the bottom tube normally visible? Must go check!
