I own a cybertruck, delivered in April.
I’m retired police, so I can say if you get pulled over for any traffic violation, odds of a warning are slim when your radar detector is in plain sight. That’s a pretty common practice.
Unless you're in a state that allows radar detectors.

My cop friend said it's okay they won't pull me over for that here in Vegas. To much work for a secondary offense that doesn't look like they can write a ticket for. They won't pull you over here in Vegas unless it's a primary offense like speeding.

I have a front windshield the size of Vermont and I should fear a a ticket for having an obstructed view of the road? I don't know if that is even a thing but I am not gonna sweat it.
Good for you!

Where did you get it made from aluminum? I 3D printed the mount and the screw hole is not aligned well either. I was going to use the radar mount to clamp it under the rear view mirror instead but this looks like a better option.
pcbway.com

$65 shipped. Took about a week.

I tried to get one made like you did at pcbway but they said there were to many dividing lines after I converted the STL file to step. I'm not familiar with CAD do I didn't know how to do these things lol.
They made it for me without issue. All I did was spray paint it. I had to dremmel a few spots to make it perfect. It worked out great.

That’s what the detector is for… to NOT get pulled over. This Uniden has saved my ass. It picks up cops 2 miles away and once from hill to hill I had his presence 9 miles away. I regularly run > 100 mph on CO-UT trips and I am warned way before I get near them. No tickets or even getting pulled over in a very very long time. Unless a cop has PC, he can’t pull you over… you know this.

They don’t use laser near me, so I am one of the lucky ones. But many of the cops on the front range who use laser forget to turn off their KA band, so I usually know they are there anyways.

The only way he is gonna get me is creep up on me with his radar off. I scan my rear all the time. If he is in an undercover vehicle that looks super normal, then he may get me. But I haven’t had that situation yet. Knock on wood.

Why not just slow down a little? Enjoy the incredible ride and improved range.
Because when you get behind an RV or semitrailer going 15 under the speed limit, it drives me batshit. I am usually fine if folks are doing the speed limit… but 10-15 under makes me want to claw my eyeballs out.

You need to choose 3D print and select metal material, no need to convert to step unless you do CNC.

They are legal where I’m from.

All police cars are not equipped with radar. My point was exactly as you say, those with radar detectors typically drive excessive speeds.

You could get stopped for speed being paced. ( I often drive an unmarked car. ) You could be stopped for stop sign, red light, lane change, talking on your phone if it’s in your hand, etc etc

I’m just saying that if you’re stopped for whatever, and I see the radar detector, there’s not going to be any warnings. And I typically warned more times than citations.

It’s just my point of view on radar detectors. I was assigned to traffic for 10 years and was assigned injury and fatal accidents to investigate. When you see in person all the pain and suffering it changes your thoughts on people that drive too fast.

my job was to be out there in attempt to make the roads safer. If we weren’t out there, more people would be injured and deceased.

I know. I get it. Thank you for your service.

That said... now that you are retired... get your radar detector (y) Seriously... when you are on a straightaway in the middle of nowhere... its nice to step it up a bit.

I get it too... I was a Firefighter for 16 years. I responded to cores, and more accidents than you know. But OTOH, I know I am a "safe" speeder. There is a time and place to step it up.
