I saw another post a while back from someone that lived in Ithaca saying things started out nice with the truck in Ithaca, but shifted dramatically with people coming up to him shouting flipping him off. But I haven’t heard from him since last year, maybe he sold his truck. I have a trip to Ithaca and I’m worried I won’t be able to go downtown with out getting terrible treatment with my kids in the truck. Has anyone been to Ithaca recently was it fine to park on the street? Drive through Cornell campus? Or was everyone shouting and throwing shit at you. Funny how when the truck was announced I was so excited to go to some of my favorite places and check out trails with the truck but know I’m worried about vandalism and have to decide if it’s safe to leave the truck places or where I can park where I won’t get my tires knifed or my wiper ripped off.

I can't believe how many people are willing to voluntarily live in fear of what other's think. Any car can get vandalized, just live your life on your terms. The loonies are not in charge and don't have the law on their side.

Not everyone is a multi millionaire with personal body guards that can easily replace the CT. The likelihood of expensive damage to your vehicle is high in certain areas. There's a difference between the CT and a Camry in terms of being noticed. You clearly don't drive near the crazies if you think people don't have to scan their surroundings and plan accordingly to keep their loved ones safe.

Exactly! I just wanted a heads up… we will bring the truck I’m just not trying to go to certain places if others experienced particularly rough times or their trucks have been damaged. If my tires get sliced I’m fucked so far from home with my family, not trying to have that experience. I’d rather leave it parked at the rental house and uber downtown saving me 100’s to 1000’s in damage or stress.

As a resident of North Carolina, I have the fun privilege of paying tuition to UNC Chapel Hill for my son. I also have the great honor of driving my cyber truck there periodically to visit him.

I can definitely say I’ve never gotten a middle finger or anything like that at Chapel Hill. However, it all depends on the college campus frankly. I went home recently to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a small liberal college in the Midwest for a fraternity reunion. I got more middle fingers and dirty looks there than I ever have down here in the south.

Go Redhawks!!

Ohio is definitely a weird place. You have a University named Miami in a city named Oxford? 🤣🍺

Way weird.
Miami University is considered the cradle of coaches.

Ben Roethlisberger went to school there with me when I was there. It’s also home to some of the greatest coaches in football Bo Schembechler at University of Michigan, Michigan., John Harbaugh, Shaun McVay, and of course, Paul Brown. All coached at Miami.

It is also one of the original public Ivy League colleges.

But apparently that doesn’t buy you manners when it comes to cyber trucks. Go figure.

Their loved ones safe? Maybe you can provide some evidence that Cybertruck owners or their families have been physically harmed by the crazies.

I see them all the time, they are ineffective losers and totally not scary. No, I don't have personal body guards, LOL! What kind of ridiculous comment is that? Bodyguards of multi-millionaires don't repair damaged vehicles, regular insurance does.

The only instances involving physicality that I know about were two minor incidents during peak anti-Elon/Anti-Cybertruck heat in Spring of 2025, after Elon helped take the White House from the left. One Cybertruck owner was punched by a guy who called him "capitalist swine" but it was a glancing blow with absolutely no injury. The Cybertruck owner tried to hug the crazed attacker but he left.

The other I've heard of was in March of 2025 in New Orleans during the Krewe of Orpheus parade on Lundi Gras, several Cybertrucks serving as marshal vehicles faced aggressive hostility from drunk revelers in the crowd, including booing and objects being thrown. One owner reported that someone ran up to their Cybertruck (with windows down) and forcefully slung a handful of beads at the side. The beads struck his wife in the head. She experienced a headache for a day or two afterward but no major injuries.

These crazies are real lowlifes who want to act tough but tend to be too cowardly to actually inflict significant injury, they are just idiots. Things have calmed down dramatically since the Spring of 2025.

To be afraid of these cowards is the equivalent of being afraid of your own shadow and you probably shouldn't get out of bed each morning, Cybertruck or not, because the world is a dangerous place. Plus, the Cybertruck is studded with cameras all around.

You must be blind. There's a recent post with someone getting their passenger window smashed while parked. I've had the crazies* shoot at my windshield while driving through a 2 lane road. Plenty of people screaming at me driving by, mad about daddy Elon. If you have kids with you, it's not about being afraid... You're not too bright. You don't put your children in harm's way and think that a gun fight is an appropriate situation to be involved in, with your loved ones. You avoid conflict and assess the situation. Cameras aren't going to do shit. These people will never be identified and the inner city police will never pursue an investigation into them. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I tend to agree with what you said, especially when you have a family with kids and nut jobs want to hurt you and disregard the fact that you have children in the car.

in a moment like that, I’m not going to stop and ask the perpetrator for their voter registration card to see what affiliation they are. I’m going to take action regardless.

I'm not going to tell you that you didn't get shot at if you know you did, but what I will say is that looks just like an everyday rock chip. We even call them "bullseyes."

It must have been a pellet gun or BB but the recording showed them roll the windows down slightly and you can see a barrel stick out. Probably some young kids but who knows. I work near one of the craziest places in the US. They've shot up and burned multiple dealerships last year as well as set fire to some charging stations at the mall. The service center had wood panels covering where the glass got shot when I picked up the truck. 🤣

Cameras don’t stop this?

Or this

There are many incidents where parked trucks get vandalized, and losing a tire when you are traveling is not cool. It’s not about fear, it’s about risk. Also people saying it’s all liberals that are mad that’s not true. People on both sides are mad at this truck. I doubt it’s liberals in the lifted pickups coal rolling me and brake checking and spitting at me. I really doubt it’s liberals shooting at cars. In the rural “conservative” towns I drive through I get a lot of negative attention. Just as much as I get in “liberal” towns. So can we drop the political narrative.

I just wanted to hear from folks with recent experience in Ithaca,NY. I’ve seen a few post in the past but haven’t heard from that poster in a while maybe they gave up and sold their truck.
