He’s bringing this topic up again @That Beast Mode
I’m just saying that I’ve witnessed disagreement on this subject in the past.
I’m not claiming one is the “correct” position Abi, just that not everyone agrees on it.

When I’m traveling with my propane tanks, I generally like to keep them right next to my nitroglycerin. That way, if anything goes wrong with either, I get a pretty clean burn, which is better for the environment.

You guys aren’t doing this?

Oh there’s definitely a correct answer, but yes, I realize why clarification is needed

Why is the question? Why the danger, the inconvenience, and carcinogens of cooking with propane. You have 123 kWh of clean power. I converted to all electric camping years ago. Induction cooktop, electric fridge, and microwave. All my camping buddies have converted as well. Propane kitchen is the flip phone of camping.

I don’t cook on propane. I use an electric blackstone and an induction top, a sous vide and an air fryer. Can barely remember camping without a fridge and freezer any more. I air condition with a wave 3 and use an electric blanket to stay warm at night. Charge my car at about 5 miles an hour using solar and heat and filter my water electrically. Almost my entire campsite is inflatable too and I use electric sup pumps for that.
However, a fire is part of the camping experience for my family at least and in Arizona where fire risk is obviously high, most of the year charcoal and wood fires are prohibited but propane is not, so I bought a propane conversion and some lava rocks for my snow peak Takibi pit. This will serve for ambience, marshmallow roasting and so forth but also, there are some foods I still prefer the flavor of flame grilled. The blackstone is awesome but I don’t cook steak on it. Cheese steak yes, burgers yes, but a ribeye, no thanks. I prefer the flip phone for that. I must be addicted to the carcinogens.
I agree with Hank Hill on many things, but I still like to taste some of the heat, not only the meat. If I had my choice it would be wood or charcoal but it’s not an option much of the time.

Just mount it anywhere inside your bed and leave the cover open to let it vent in the summer. Propane isn't going to explode. Not even if you shoot it. Just don't leave it in an enclosed area and you'll be fine. Do you know how many rednecks leave them in the bed of their truck year round?

Strap it to the back bumper. Prevent tail-gaiting.

We actually don’t use it for cooking but rather to keep the wall tent warm at base camp when temps are single digits. It’s a must in those conditions but I’m going to try an electric heater run off the CT this season to see what the battery impact is.

So if someone were to say “put your recovery gear in the husky container, lift it over the tailgate and just push it to the back of the bed” you wouldn’t understand what they mean? Even though the “back of the bed” they are referring to is closer to the front of the car?

But there isn’t 12v in the bed you say? Powerstations pretty much all have one and then all you have to do is turn the vault plugs on briefly to charge them.
Space heaters make me nervous fire risk wise.

I’d know what they mean, then obnoxiously do what they said. They would be annoyed and I’d laugh.

Now that’s interesting for sure! We’ve all got 0 degree bags but adding a heated blanket sounds like heaven! Our big concern is that our base camp wall tent sleeps 10 and finding ways to keep it heated when we all return for several hours before we pass out. It’s got a wood burning stove that we usually use and the propane is generally a secondary source when we have that option. Thanks for the recommendation as usual as you’ve become my own personal shopper! Haha
