Got a service appointment to fix a slight frunk misalignment, and a rear window that sounds like it doesn’t seal well (wind noise like it’s cracked open but it isn’t).

This morning I noticed an occasional stuttering feeling while using regen to slow down around 1mph approaching stop signs. Felt it one other time and felt it this morning. Truck is at around 1500 miles.

the frunk and window are minor issues and I’m not concerned. Tesla will fix those. But has anyone else noticed this regen feeling? Usually regen is super smooth…but this doesn’t feel right.

i notice something like that when the truck has to hit the brakes at the same time as it is regening. but i am usually driving with FSD so it doesn't happen that often.

On Dec. 22 I experienced the same thing with the brakes/regen. It only happened at very slow speeds like you mentioned. Felt like a gas car that was misfiring or about to run out gas and die.
I deduced that it was due to the temperature outside. It was brutally cold that day (20°F ish) and apparently too cold for Regen to even work as per the manual. There's also a setting that allows the brakes to mimic regen braking when regen braking is not available. I believe what we felt was this. The green regen bar wasn't turning green anymore it was just gray.

I happened to be on a weekend getaway to PA and I wasn't really able to pre-heat the truck as I usually do before drives, maybe that was a factor... I've never experienced that again after that morning though.

Wow, thank you so much for this info. It was around 20degrees this morning and the vehicle was ice cold. This could explain it. I will mention it at the service appointment and see if Tesla confirms. THANK YOU! I was so worried!

I also had this symptom this weekend. It was cold but at the end of a journey. To me the slow speed feeling (< 3km/h) almost mimicked ABS engagement. I was also reminded of when 4WD binds when turning on high friction surfaces. I was concerned it was a steering position sensor or something more complex.

Oddly it hasn’t happen in drives this week.

Update: Tesla just randomly called me to check in since I picked up the truck about a month ago. I mentioned the regen thing I experienced this morning and he did confirm that regen feels a little different when it’s super cold since the brakes engage instead of regen. A prior comment above mentioned that it almost feels like ABS brakes kicking in. That’s exactly how it felt but much more subtle. Tesla rep said to mention it during my frunk adjustment appointment on the 22nd and keep an eye on it, but it’s probably nothing to worry about.

I'm glad to give you the sense of relief. I was so damn worried when it happened to me; and I was an hour and a half from home with my wife and kids!

I wouldn't let service fiddle with the truck if I were you. I would only have a conversation with the tech about it at first. In my experience, once someone pulls something apart, they never put it back exactly like it used to be.

Thanks for that advice…although that’s a little concerning to hear ?.

Haha!
I didn't realize how that came out. I didn't mean to disparage tesla service at all. I only said what I said because:

I had a bluetooth issue from a software update and took it for service. They replaced a part under the headliner and fixed it. But...now I had an annoying noise coming from the headliner. I pulled it and added foam to the spot the noise was coming from and eliminated 99% of the annoying sound.
I learned that other CT owners had the same bluetooth issue I had but theirs was resolved with the next software update. I could have avoided this headliner noise nonsense by just waiting for the next update.

One update on this - I had a recurrence this morning. It was very early in the drive in the coffee drive thru and quite cold out. Didn’t notice it happening at the end of my commute.

It’s definitely not normal. Not devastating but disconcerting.

It's normal if the pack is cold and the option to use brakes if regen is limited is enabled.

I agree with you but it doesn't "feel right."
Feels like there's something seriously wrong with the truck even though there isn't.
Luckily I've only experience it once.

Yeah, I agree with the disconcerting part of the comment. But while unusual/ rare/ not typical, it isn't abnormal, system is functioning as designed.

I believe that preconditioning before the 1st drive of the day is a MUST if temps are below freezing.

To avoid this "issue" at least.

Ok. I’ve never had it occur on any other Tesla I’ve owned hence the concern. I did also precondition as well.
