Yikes! Let employees drive what they want to drive. You’re going to make the custodian making $11/hour buy a $40k car just so they are allowed to drive to work?

"Should Tesla make this a policy with some exceptions/exemptions?"

Sure. So then maybe you draw a line at a certain wage, or maybe salary vs hourly. But what about the new hire who makes $70k a year? Well surely you’re not going to make them forfeit over half of their salary back to their employer just for the privilege of parking at work. So you bump the line up to $100k. Well, at that point at least half of your work force is already excluded, and your mandate is worthless because the parking lot is still full of ICE. Seems dystopian to me.

The privilege of parking at work.

Sure, why not? Parking costs money. It is a privilege. They could buy a used Zero or Bolt, too.

The more authoritarian — legacy auto-like — you make a company the less likely you get good employees. Drive away the good ones, pun intended.

Tesla's are being purchased as fast as they can be manufactured, thus requiring employees to drive EV's will not increase EV adoption rate. The number of employees at Tesla are also completely irrelevant on the global scale. Attempting to force employees to drive a certain type of vehicle would be extremely stupid and unethical.

I took no offense. I really did want to see what your answer would be.
In that case, no. I do not think they are literally the same. But I do think forcing employees or union members to do certain things is an over reach of power. That I do not support.

My take on unions after having belonged to a couple and seeing how they work is they aren't that much different than the USSR.

Unions are basically based on socialism. Everyone gets the same wage for the same job. Everyone is equal-the basis for a socialist society. There is no meritorious system, seniority is everything as it allows you to get the best jobs, pay and otherwise. You can be the laziest, least productive worker and you still get the same pay as the most energetic and productive employee.

I think Kamala Harris gave a speech describing a system where she wants all Americans to wind up at the same place, where everyone is equal. In other words, socialism. Of course that doesn't include the ruling class, the elite in government.

Yeah. just say that didn't happen, because it didn't.

Equal opportunity (Kalama's big issue) is not at all what you described. And that's okay, there are some people, invested in misrepresenting the issue so we don't work together so they can remain elite.

I agree with you about the problems in Unions. They do have issues, many revolving around seniority. Others involve protectionism and reducing the number of workers. These two things create some toxic incentives, aside from straight up corruption.

But humans are human and all oir organizations are flawed, so we have to work around that.

She said "compete on equal footing" "so that we all end up at the same place."

It's socialism.

We already have laws for equal opportunity. Ever heard of the EEOC? Hiring Quotas?

so they can remain elite.
That would be Kamala Harris and others in D.C., the lawmakers, ruling class.
