I voted "yes", but I may have misunderstood the question.

First, I meant yes when it's reasonably possible. And I assumed we were talking about Tesla's internal operations. As in, their own fleet. For example, recently the Tesla repairman came to my house to make a repair in an ICE van. I vote for stopping that as soon as it's reasonably possible.

She said "compete on equal footing" "so that we all end up at the same place."

It's socialism.
A) No it's not. Do you even know what that word means? It doesn't mean either 'equality of opportunity' or in 'end up in the same place'.

B) And you're picking phrases out of context.

We already have laws for equal opportunity. Ever heard of the EEOC? Hiring Quotas?
Yes. That doesn't mean they work. Quotas are both not real, and illegal.

That would be Kamala Harris and others in D.C., the lawmakers, ruling class.
This statement is straight up false and insulting.

I wasn't arguing with you. But you keep insisting on saying things which are just gibberish, insulting, and borderline racist.

Ok, explain what you think it means.

It was for brevity. It didn't change the context.

Yes. That doesn't mean they work.
But Kamala Harris' proposal would work? It's just a politician pontificating.

Quotas are both not real, and illegal.
For the first time, some of the biggest corporations are setting concrete racial quotas. As many as a half-dozen companies have said they've adopted workforce quotas in recent months. These include Wells Fargo, the nation's third-biggest bank, which said it will increase Black leadership to 12%. It's an opinion. You are insulted ever so lightly and quickly.

and borderline racist.
Just saying or claiming something is racist doesn't make it so.

Make a case of how anything I said was racist or "borderline racist".

I want to preface this that it's okay to be wrong, and okay to make mistakes, be misled, and even okay to end up sounding offensive some times. It's how you learn, grow, and try to do better in the future that matters.

A smart guy once said, 'we don't get mad if someone tells us we have some dirt on our faces. We just wash it off and go on with our lives. You should appreciate when someone tells you you have a little something on your face, and then go on and correct that.

Ok, explain what you think it means.
This isn't the place to have that discussion, as it's a big thing. But its core definition is 'the means to produce are controlled by the workers'. In the US, we use it to refer to when government is 'for the people, by the people, in order to promote the general Welfare' or 'maximize happiness', as Elon says.

It is often demonized, used as a slur, because that goal was also stated by several regimes which became authoritarians - and also others, which rose up against robber-barons. Some capitalists rather liked the idea of the robber barons and like to sweep under the rug how many people that kills.

But Kamala Harris' proposal would work? It's just a politician pontificating.
Since we aren't discussing specific proposals, isn't that getting ahead of ourselves?

A) a diversity goal is not a quota. This would be stretching the definition of quota a bit far... If you expect n% of your customers or employees to be specific racial backgrounds, if your leadership doesn't reflect that, it indicates a sampling failure in your hiring process.
B) 12% is not concrete. It's not a specific number, as they just want to be somewhere around there at least. Concrete doesn't mean loose, does it?

The article seems at odds with itself.

Anyhow, it being labeled 'opinion' doesn't make it any less insulting to call a woman of color from a middle-class family who grew up to be elected as part of the minority party in government, 'elite', as if achieving was bad and she should feel bad about trying to help the most number of people also succeed in life.

I'm just giving you the information you can use and take to learn more about these issues. Do it for yourself. Find new sources you're not used to. I can only point out a litle bit. There is alot out there I don't know.

Go ahead and make the rule now, and watch 1000's of pictures pop up on social media of Giga Texas using hundreds of diesel powered engines to build it.

Pictures of Elon flying every other day on a horrible, petrol jet.

Pictures of SpaceX flying to the ISS using petroleum.

Nobody is going to fly to Mars on batteries.

Give the poor soul driving a 2001 Toyota Prius a break. Should the other employees waterboard him during breaks to make him repent of pathetic hybrid loyalty?

This thread reminds me of those attending "climate summits" for many years by private jets from all over the planet only to be scurried back and forth by a caravan of 13 mpg Chevy Suburbans to tell everyone else to CURB YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT. By the time I read the news story, they had already flown, by private jet, to 8 other locations.

Sort of like Al Gore owning several 10,000+ sq ft. houses with AC running non-stop for his fat ass and private jets flying EVERYWHERE to sell you carbon credits to reduce YOUR carbon footprint.

This statement is straight up false and easily fact-checked,

His wife inherited a historic manor house. No, it didn't have AC. They couldn't easily modify it because of its historical status.

The question would be better, should Tesla give EVs to their employees?

I think they should require all possible contractors to use EVs.

-Crissa
Why not give employees a sweet deal on all TSLA products.

AFAIK, they don't do either.

It will be interesting to see what Tesla does when they are no longer supply constrained.

-Crissa
Plus by giving a “sweet deal” to employees the overall profit margin per vehicle would be lower. Right now Tesla is doing everything it can to maximize profit. Once there are millions of vehicles shopping out per year the difference in profit for the small numbers of employees might make more sense. But right now tons of people want to work for Tesla so there isn’t even a need for the employees to be extra motivated by such a benefit.

Yes, it will be interesting, and an opportunity to show how and why Tesla is better/different than the competition.
