I figure I'll get it fixed in the future when they are caught up on others perhaps and if it goes out. Seems like 98% of wipers in trucks work just fine so odds are pretty good it'll work just fine. Haven't had to use in the rain yet, kinda looking forward to that. Just had the odd wipe here and there by itself on the freeway so far. Makes that horrible squeak sound on dry glass ;-)
From what I read, the problem is caused by the vendor testing with a load too large. And that impacted a transistor.
Transistors are far from identical, in any batch you will have ones that far exceed the specification and some that minimally meet the specifications, but indeed meets them.

I suspect that the problem is that the weaker transistors ended up being stressed a little too much. And they may make a few cycles before giving up.

But the stronger transistors are still happy and will keep going forever.

The problem is that the way that you determine which is marginal and which are not, is destructive.

So you got to change them all!:(

I'm sick of taking the CT into the SC, so the recall can wait for the next time that needs to happen, or when they actually reach out. Not had any issues with the wiper, and haven't Rain-X'd yet, but probably will. As a general rule, if it rains here, it's biblical, so Rain-X (or is there a better option these days?) will work well most of the time.

Tesla will get it fixed, Tesla will have to figure it out soon after all it does rain sometimes?!

If not, please help them, wiper motors have been around for over 100 years.

The wiper motor is 48V right? And the 48V is what is needed to operate the giant wiper. A typical 12V will not be powerful enough to move the CT wiper.

The recall notice doesn't even go out for another month.
Are you talking about the Tesla recall notice?
My VIN is 100% listed as Recall Incomplete on the NTSB site. Also service appointments are over a month out so why not schedule it now?

Worry about the wiper? Not till it stops working.
I find it to be very stupid from time to time. Never has done great for top of the passenger side.

Just make it with another service appointment in about two months when they aren't all freaked out. I have a few things to go over, will see how they are addressed. If I get push back I will likely be parting/divorcing the gal.

Truck company or weenie car company.

Keep reading if you are on the NHTSA site. The recall letters/notices won't be going out for a while. The accelerator pedal notices haven't even gone out yet. Those notices are the way that most people are informed of a recall.

Okay but what is your point here? If the site says it is part of it why not just get it done?

Because there is a good chance you make an appointment and they cancel it. They can't fix it now or tomorrow. Maybe in a couple months.

I think people forget how much of a pain in the ass it is to fix stuff post delivery.

True, I always let the Service Techs gain some experience fixing non-critical recalls before I let them do mine. Sometimes the "fix" improves over time. At the least, they will be able to apply the fix in their sleep (figure of speech).

Only about 250 something motors were impacted. But they don't know which 250 so they have to recall all. Your chance of a bad motor is about 2%, so worrying or not is your own choice.
I should do the lottery…my had the fault and I was assured I had the replacement unit over a month ago…
When I asked the Tesla guys on the recall notice they could not confirm if I had the correct replacement so it’s going in again…all par for the course

Point is, that rushing to get it done isn't a big need. Most owners won't find out about it for a few months.
If it was a stop driving problem, a different set of steps would be followed. Stop delivery is far from a stop driving issue.

There was a Ford F-150 recall that just released. I read the details of it. I may be slightly off on the dates.
The recall will be sent to customer in August. The notification will inform the customers that the dealers will not have the parts need to remediate until October.

I'd rather wait and make sure that I'm getting a fully tested production motor. It could be that there is a limited quantity of production quality motors available today, that's great.

But I'm in no rush, Tesla is pretty good about adding any recall tasks when you go in for anything.

I would not worry about it, either. RainX is a good idea. You almost don’t need wipers as the rain rolls right off. Needs to be reapplied consistently though per directions or whatever you find to be effective given your location, weather, and use case. I’ve used my wiper about 3-4 times now, no issues. That being said, I did go ahead and book a service for the wiper, sail, and accelerator pedal - about a month out - I guess they need to get the parts. Don’t worry, be happy. You own a Cybertruck!
I've always thought Rain-X was snake oil, but after reading ya'lls experience I'm open to trying.

How often do you apply the product? Does it last in hot environments?

Does it really work?

Hi Paul, I haven’t used it since I moved to New Mexico because we really don’t have enough rain (for me) to justify it (despite recent flooding). But when I used it in California, it worked like magic, but I did have to reapply it more frequently than I’d like. You could actually get away with not using your wipers because the rain simply would be blown off your windshield very quickly at least at highway speeds. I would suggest buying a single bottle and try it and see if it fits your use case and effort tolerance. You need to clean the windshield and then apply the product so it’s really not too bad.
