Side Mirror Delete Options?

Anyone have a good side mirror delete option? I did use Tesbro’s option (that’s sold out) but that glue just wasn’t strong enough (I’m on my second pair). I tried supergluing them too but the angle of the bolt pattern and the plastic piece just don’t line up, bummer for sure since I love the way it looked.

Anyone else have any good options? I have two holes in my door right now so sooner rather than later, haha! Thanks!

Most people don't even realize the mirrors are gone. Just a cleaner look IMHO.

Why? The mirrors are less than 1 percent of the frontal cross section area into the wind and have their own frontal aerodynamic design. Seriously, why eliminate safety functionality which NHTSA requires, for a miniscule potential gain in aerodynamic efficiency or emotional compliance with fad style narratives? Isn't it already obvious we have excessive human driver problems as it is without further introducing hazards by blatantly reducing our own visibility?

Has nothing to do aero, it's how it looks. I've always had the strong believe that side mirrors are hideous on cars, it makes them look like dumbo ears. Also as far as safety goes, I have cameras that have a clearer view of the side of the vehicle and wider angle of view. FSD doesn't use the mirrors and its safer than a human driver.
Mirrors are great, cameras are better.

Hot take here but I was considering removing them back when I first got the truck but it just looks goofy without em. I think most people are doing it just to be different.

I totally respect the post, it's a great question. I've now hit 13k total miles with no reariew or side mirrors on my Foundation Series (which I just traded for a new AWD 78k VIN) and am doing the same with this truck. In Colorado, side mirrors aren't required as long as you have another form of being able to see back and to the side, just like the review mirror being blocked by the tonneau isn't illegal. These mirror ultimately make my ownership harder by blocking my view out of the front windshield (I sit high and am tall) along with making parking in my garage very difficult even with the side mirrors folder. Plus I LOVE the look with beefy tires and no side mirrors. Using the screen feeds when the blink is on also shows no blindspot and is ultimately more clear for me to see than looking through a potential dirty window onto a dirty mirror.

So those are my reasons, but I do appreciate your post. Thanks!

So I already have the HFS Stainless steel parts from the TesBros option I have been using. How did you install the bolt piece under the stainless and how much would you charge for 2 of those piece along with that trim piece. It does look amazing. Thanks!

I don't use any bolts, screws, or glue. It is grooved so it just slides into place. That little tab you see is so you can tie a string to it during install. I dropped a couple into the door before I learned my lesson and added the loop. 306 SS is not magnetic so it is a real pain to get out of the door if you drop one inside. Once it is in place it isn't going anywhere.

Yes. The entire thing is 3d printed in 306 SS.

I wasn't commenting on operating a vehicle with FSD, but rather was asking a question concerning the current vehicle configuration for human driving. I don't disagree with capabilities of FSD either, but we are not in full autonomy where FSD is used all of the time without humans ever driving. Don't mix FSD into the discussion to attempt deflection from the main point of the question.

If you think mirrors look hideous that's your perception - but there have been many other accessories on vehicles that look similar to mirrors and could be described equally as 'hideous'. There are many other accessories for the Cybertruck that protrude and take away from a 'clean look', but in my perception the Cybertruck is a (Truck), which will commonly have accessories protruding from it, attached to it, or items in the back protruding out sometimes. So being overly focused on something as small as the side mirrors seems pointless. But, perceptions in the eye of the beholder and respect to your preference, but it sounds like you intend to drive the Cybertruck as a car mostly, and not use it as a truck very much at all. Side mirrors are often necessary with trucks, especially when backing trailers.

Cameras don't always have a clearer view of the side either, as they can get obstructed by water, snow, or mud fairly easy. At least with side mirrors one can reach and wipe them off fairly quickly. Camera screen video still is nowhere near as clear as looking directly through a mirror (unless your eyes are bad and you can't tell the difference), because of screen resolution, lack of distance perception, and frame rates. I like cameras to augment visibility - but not to totally replace mirrors at this point with the current hardware being scaled. Maybe future hardware releases will change my mind, but my eyes tell me we're currently not there yet.

Once the steering wheel is gone from a vehicle and human eyes are no longer being used to drive or steer the vehicle at all, then it's obvious mirrors would be optional at that point even though they still might be useful for some passengers to look back without turning around (if the owner preferred that option).

I’ve been mirrorless for a few weeks and never looked back.

Seriously, though, the cameras and displays do the job just fine and one adjusts easily. After a few glances the wrong way one learns.

I mostly use FSD, and have also used the radical technique of turning my head to look out the window. Another interesting way to observe is the on screen simulation of cars around. This alerts to an adjacent car.

my observation is that a mirrorless Cybertruck is like when an old friend shaves his mustache. You don’t even realize the change even though you know something is different. My personal experience is that when I challenge an automotive savvy friend to spot the obvious external mod on my Cybertruck they can’t spot it. I don’t think one out of 100 traffic cops would either, even if they pulled you over for speeding.

If I did get pulled over I’d explain that I do have side and rear mirrors and they’re digital. Or do the same before a judge and note that there are other equipment requirements that a Tesla can’t comply with (“mufflers”) and are sensibly not enforced.
