Tesla is currently experiencing a Cybertruck sales slump. Sales in Q1 were half of Q4.

I'm sure that their leadership is looking forward to tapping into the Saudi Arabia Cybertruck market and possibly Australia later in the year.

Agree. Aesthetics and politics aside, I think the real limiting factor is the pricepoint. Essentially, the AWD is about 50% more expensive than originally shared at the CT launch event ($50k). Yes, if we factor in inflation, it still wouldn't be close to the $80k price.

If it got down to $65k for the AWD, I think there would be a lot more sales (and alot more OG owners complaining about depreciation).

As a level 100 introvert, I definitely do not enjoy the attention.

However, having a truck straight out of bladerunner really just trumps that aspect.

I do also get to build my social durability which is good(I guess 🫤).

Took delivery of the 2026 Model Y about 3 weeks ago and here are my thoughts.

I won't go into every detail of the new vehicle because there are reviews ad nauseam on the web. In general, the new Model Y is much more refined and has a more premium feel.

INTERIOR:
The seats, steering wheel, dashboard and trim in general are absolutely and unequivocally improved over the previous version. The ambient lighting that runs around the vehicle is also a welcome addition; not life changing but its a nice look.

EXTERIOR:
The looks of a car is in the eyes of the beholder. Your mileage may vary but I really like the redesigned exterior. Once again, I find it much more refined. In terms of color, I chose Stealth Grey and I can't overstate how nice this color looks. I highly recommend seeing it in person but in short, it looks like a deep grey at times and a muted black other times. Most importantly; the bluish tint that was present in the previous grey is gone. Stealth grey is truly grey and thank God for that! I decided to de-badge the new ride because I don't like badges in general as I feel they take away from the aesthetics of the car. Interestingly enough, I have had a number of people ask me what kind of car I am driving. Pretty funny stuff but it speaks to the different look of the redesigned car.

RIDE:
I drove a 2024 Model Y shortly before driving my new car, so I was able to note the improvements. The suspension is tighter and absorbs bumps in the road better. I know. I know. New car versus used car. I get that but that aside it is obvious the suspension is now better. Another obvious difference is the interior noise while driving and honestly there is no comparison. The new Model Y is *much quieter.

Now let's get to the important stuff; what I miss the most moving from a CyberTruck to a Model Y.

• Steer-by-wire. I miss this a lot. Kind of wish I had never experienced it because now I know what I am missing. I'm like 3 weeks into this new car and I'm still adjusting to traditional steering.

• Sound system. The sound system in the redesigned Y is better than the previous Y. Not by leaps and bounds but it definitely has a richer sound quality. But - and this is a big but - it is nowhere near the quality of the CyberTruck sound system. 'Nuff said.

That's my review. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I don't have any regrets but I'm going to add a caveat. If the upcoming Model Y Performance has steer-by-wire, as rumored, I can definitely see selling my Dual Motor and getting one. So, possibly more to come.....

Glad to hear you stayed in the Tesla family, and hearing your thoughts comparing new Y to the CT.

As someone who traded a 2020 Dual Motor Y for the CT, it’s good to hear the differences…and I’ll always have a soft spot for the Y. 🙂

Reviews state the cabin is now library quiet compared to the outgoing model.
I'm sure it is...my wife's 2024 Model 3 is super quiet compared to my 2020 Y...and it's quieter than her 2021 3 that she traded in for the 2024.

Enjoy your new ride.

It’s funny you say the primary downside is essentially the public response to the vehicle. I completely agree. If I were to downgrade, the sole reason would be to blend back in with the background.
I have been a musician for 70 years and have played in front of as many as 250,000 people in a single concert in Miami. Having said that I tell people that my CT attracts so much attention that it helps me deal with my shyness!

I'm thinking of selling mine and working to get "all my ducks in a row" Any suggestions thoughts would be appreciated. I know there is a 1 Yr. waiting period required for the warrantee to be transferable but is that based on the final purchase agreement date that I signed when I picked it up ? Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. It is a Foundation series CyberBeast w/ only 500 mi.. I'll probably post it on Ebay or find someone locally who's interested but want to make sure that the transfer is done right. Love the truck but also have a M3P. Just got the light bar and wheel covers but told them to keep them packaged and I would handle it later so new owner can make their own choices. Thanks again for your thoughts. 🙏
Also should this be done as a reply to this post or just start a new one for "Selling Suggestions"
