Heads up to others, this Starlink residential max + mini bundle was discontinued June 6th. Previous adopters are grandfathered in though.
Thank you. I forgot to add that the bundle is no longer available. Rumor mill says the new mini is supposed to come with a battery.

I don’t use my mini and when they increased the fee I wanted to return it. I frequently drive where there is no cell service, so my husband said for $10 a month he likes that I’d have slow service if I had any trouble. So we keep it in the truck for emergencies.

What is the purpose of installing Starlink ON the truck if you have Premium Connectivity.
We are on a road trip right now and I forgot to bring my Mini and we have had very splotchy connectivity at times. The Mini would have fixed that.

for the everyday average driver - nothing. a lot of folks who participate on his forum are travelers with family and go off-road -- for them having access to data may be warranted if they have children, want to work and need access in remote areas, etc. but for you and me, who drive daily and treat our cars like parking lot princesses :), premium connectivity is all we need.

i ended up getting a router installed in my car because i live in a condo with garaging under the building. my home router does not reach the car, but the router in the car has cellular connectivity. i like this so my car can upload logs to the mothership, be in-line to get updates faster, and just to be always connected.
Count me as one of those everyday drivers that rarely is in a location without cell signal…but I wanted a Mini for those times that I need it. Got one in December. Have I had to ‘really’ use it (in a location without cell signal)? Nope. lol.

About once or twice a year, we’ll do long weekends in Maine, NH, or VT where there are spots without cell service. So, for those times, I’ll have Starlink available lol.

Starlink works fine driving? Thought I read you need a special plan if moving at speed. My use would be for driving and keeping connectivity in remote areas.

Perfectly fine driving. I don’t notice any drop in speed until I’m around 85mph.

This is brilliant. Do you have a 3D file to share?
maker world has multiple starlink mini battery adapters for the various battery systems out there. try this link to start your search and find a model you can work with. It will also require some parts from amazon to connect battery power to the mini. Those items are normally listed in the description of the 3D model. Good Luck1

TL;DR: The Truck doesn't really benefit from having Starlink; it's more about where the Truck takes you. And if that location doesn't have reliable Internet, then Starlink for the win.

I installed my Starlink Mini with a suction cup mount inside the truck's glass roof last year. Mainly because I was driving cross-country and didn't want to be without service. I was able to park my truck outside the motel (middle of AZ) and connect to the WiFi and not use the crappy unsecured WiFi from the motel.

But is it worth it a year later? sure. I activate the Service month by month when I go camping or backpacking. I can slide it out of the suction cup mount and place it next to the tent or hang off the backpack. I plan on island hopping in the Philippines next year and will definitely be bringing it with me.

As for portable power, I love using the https://teslaunch.net/products/star...ipod-compatible-with-all-starlink-mini-models from T-Launch. But when taking it on a plane, I will be looking to get the Peakdo 2 as it's just at the FAA 100wh limit.

Thank you. AMZN also has the whole adapter for $14.
