Driving down the highway and I lost my tailgate cover... anyone else?

I love my Cybertruck but just wondering if anyone else is loosing trim pieces?

I covered the holes with clear tape while I await my service appointment.

Thinking about fabricating a replacement out of diamond plate.

Be careful on the metal you use as dissimilar metals may lead to corrosion issues.

Great point... I'm guessing the tailgate is aluminum.

I believe it's stainless steel.

I know that the inner door shells are stainless steel and I think the tailgate shell is the same.

I feel that this piece should have been stainless along with the side and top vault trim pieces. I'm hoping someone will come out with aftermarket versions before I have to do it myself!

common issue and known by Tesla with their recall. I believe the recall is for the side pieces only, but I know of another with the tailgate cap gone. Poor design on retaining clips. I’ve requested all three to be secured with new retaining clips for my service appointment. Service date keeps getting pushed out with the explanation of “waiting on parts” but I can’t get a clear answer on whether it’s the newly designed clips or my trim piece that is delayed (was able to recover my trim piece but it was too badly damaged to reuse… mine was driver side that has the tonneau and tailgate controls, which we’re not recovered). I too would be interested in an aftermarket option.
