Why not on the trim piece above the tonneau?

And yes, it does seem like it needs a much more narrow field of view. You have the other cameras, after all.

-Crissa
Yes, it could be there, but where would the wires go? At least up where the light bar goes there is power so the wires might more easily be concealed. Also, I’d rather mount the cameras to a non-truck item. As for the cameras I am sure that whatever field of view is needed can be found. Hell if I know, just guessing/hoping.

there are 3-channel digital mirrors available.

I am thinking this way because Tesla could do a Magna or Gentex solution integrated with their cameras but they haven’t, so we have to do it.

I’m still trying to figure out what the difference is between having the rear view camera display in the center screen versus in the rear view mirror? I don’t have my truck yet but assume one would just need to retrain his/her brain to look at the screen instead of up at the mirror…I suspect removing the mirror altogether would reinforce this.
The review on main screen works, but IMO is a cluttered mess and obstructs other things on the screen. While Tesla seems to be on the path of a single hud display for cost effectiveness, which makes sense, they go and put a second screen in the back. While some will disagree, I would rather have that second screen $cost in the front where it provides more inputs and increases potential safety rather than in the back providing entertainment....

Yes. You get used to using your side mirrors mainly. They are totally sufficient sometimes I use the rear view also. But mainly the side mirros and the left and right repeater camera feed when the turn signal is on.

Don't miss the rear view mirror at all. At 4300 miles so far and don't miss it
You do, but you don't get the same amount of information as you do from a normal rearview mirror. My ideal setup is to have a nice and zoomed image in the rear view mirror, then the existing rear view image on the display. As I go on to explain below.
Yes, I think so, it's all about habitually looking in the same place for a rearview, that creates entrenched neural pathways that some people find difficult to break free of. And they feel stupid every time they fall back to their old habit and look in the wrong place. It took me about a week to mostly get used to looking in a different place, I'm sure it might take months for the last bit of it to go away. I actually think it makes my brain younger to re-train some of those neural pathways that are pure habit, with no reason for them being entrenched other than that's how I've done it so many times in the past. This forces my brain out of those entrenched habits and tickles other areas of my brain alive.

I might have an easier time than some because I had to go through this same kind of training when I was much younger and had taken various jobs where I had to drive vans and trucks without a center rear view. I trained myself to use the side mirrors instead. I found it easier at age 18 than at 61, but those early driving experiences without a rear view taught me I don't need a rear view, so maybe I'm less entrenched in my ways than many younger people who have always had a rear-view mirror. I've only had one for 99% of my miles, which is probably why I never understood the visceral reactions of some at not having a "real" rear view mirror (I already knew it was not a big deal). But I am often surprised how resistant some adults are to change. I feel like change, new experiences and new ways of doing things is what keeps my brain from becoming ossified in old age. I think ingrained habits are good to break free of, it opens the mind up.

I've only driven my Cybertruck 500 miles over two weeks and I'm already 98% of the way there.
This isn't true for everyone. I could care less where the image is, but the image needs to be zoomed way further in to be useful to me.

I use my rear view mirror to keep track of people way far behind me who are making aggressive maneuvers so that I don't end up getting over right when someone (stupidly) gets in the right lane to pass rather than the left.

The current zoom of the camera image is so far away, that it's really only good for making sure your blind spot is empty. Which, is cool in isolation. I'm hoping to find a much more zoomed rear camera that displays in the rearview mirror so that I can keep that far away image on the screen. It's helpful for the 3s before lane changes. But for all other driving, I need a closer image than I get to be able to see anything useful.

Yes!!

I had one on my 2017 Chevy Bolt. The lever underneath that would normally toggle a regular mirror between day/night would instead toggle the mirror between regular mirror and the digital rear view. It worked great!!.
Agreed. Had the 2017 Bolt also and I loved it. I really wish they would have done this for the CT

takes up unnecessary space on the screen when you could have a bigger map view or music/games. one complaint about the model is i can get the camera/music/map on one screen like i could in the older verison

Do you have detail pictures about how do you run wire through rear seat?

...So you don't think vehicles should have seat/climate controls in the back? Because that's why the screen is there. It's replacing a bunch of buttons, and is cheaper than a bunch of buttons because it's a standard, flat piece with a standard connector instead of custom molded piece with mechanical parts and nonstandard connectors.

Being a working review mirror or equivalent is used 100% of the time and the rear controls far less so, my opinion remains the same.

Luckily for me, the rear view mirror isn’t as critical an issue for me. I tow a boat with the old truck. And it blocks the view out back via the rear view. So I’ve learn to rely on the side mirrors more. This naturally maps when I am in the CT so I haven’t missed the rear mirror much.

I can live with the digital view on the center screen. I do wish they would allow ability to resize it larger. Or pinch to expand/zoom in like one does on their smartphone.

the wire doesn’t go in the cabin. It stays on the outside of the truck. It runs along the window rubber, then down the door jamb (on the outside) There are 2 rubbery flexible panels there that you can push the wire behind. The wire then goes under the front of the rear fender to the wheel arch. No tools needed, just push the wire behind the covers, then pull the wheel arch cover off and route the wire through there. Hopefully these pictures help.

Ok... I see. I thought you remove the fender. Thanks for information
