No he has not. You don't broaden your base by turning off the people most inclined to buy your products and losing them as customers. At best he's gained as many as he's lost, but since the people he's appealing to now are less likely to be interested in the products to begin with it's probably a net loss. As has been mentioned repeatedly you want to grow a customer base by keeping existing customers happy while adding new ones. This is business 101.

The number of “lost” Tesla-loyal customers is both greatly exaggerated and temporary. Consumers are very forgetful, and almost always make decisions based on personal interests. The folks making claims like you about being done with Tesla are anecdotes. I teach business 101. Sometimes you have to do what’s best for the customer even when the customer doesn't recognize it at first. This political stuff will pass. Quickly. It always does. See my Henry Ford example above - FAR more real, without lasting effect.
