Op, I’d be more concerned if they went out of their way to help with something. Sounds like all went well.

Tesla delivery process is horrible.
I picked up my cybertruck this morning and I was shocked at the nonchalance of their delivery approach.

It's my first Tesla, but no one cared to walk me to my car, show me around the features, or help me set up the infotainment system. Absolutely nothing.

Now this would have been great if it was a choice, but what happens to someone who isn't tech savvy? Is Tesla fine with loosing those kinds of customers?

The entire process was very detestful!!
I have found that if you ASK for their help, they will help you out.

Remember, they are not working on commission, so there's no REAL incentive for them when you pickup your vehicle.

BUT, as I said, all you have to do is ASK.

People that are not knowledgeable on the Tesla brand and it's technology has ZERO business buying a Tesla. Study the brand. Watch several videos on Youtube. Do your homework on what you are buying. As far as the experience, it has been lackluster with me as well on 3 separate pick-ups. They are there if you need them but don't expect them to roll out the red carpet.

The only direction I got from Tesla was: go to 250 El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA. Be sure to take the Cybertruck with the correct VIN.

I don’t think the technicians know much about the Cybertruck. I doubt that they could help. When I arrived at the distribution center, there were 8 Cybertrucks on the lot. Half of the Cybertrucks had their turn signal lights blinking including the Cybertruck I was picking up. I don’t think the technicians know how to turn off the turn signal. All you have to do is touch the steering wheel in the right place.

I think that Tesla expects you to RFM (Read the Fucking Manual). However, the manual that I received was a CYA (Cover Your Ass) safety manual. If I have a question about how something works, I go to Google and ask a question.

First Tesla buying experience for me, young kid showed me the truck. Told me to inspect the truck, took me about 30-45 minutes, I asked him for help in regards to software. Showed me around the software for about 20 minutes, I signed and drove away. I'd say pretty seamless and easy..

It's hit or miss...mine was similar (not my first Tesla btw)....They were nice and inviting but yeah "Open up the app, now go find your vehicle"....so we walked across the street, no name placard, matched serials it and that was that.

Meanwhile, others have name placards on their dashboards, a Tesla SC rep sitting with them going over things. Oh well!

If you expect "normal" or consistency of "normal"...you just joined the wrong Manufacturer! lol
I didn't need much, having previously rented a base Model 3 (with stalks) a year ago on a trip where I needed something and the base M3 was (with Hertz) the same price as a base ICE vehicle - anticipating that I wanted some familiarity before putting more than $100 out there, and even more so if I didn't have to pay a premium to get that familiarity. Being base and a rental, it didn't have FSD, but I loved the TACC (wasn't going to test the lane maintain much with a rental) which unlike dumb cruise control was usable in the city with few overrides, and there was a supercharger within a couple of miles of where I was visiting that was never packed, and of course the supercharging experience is fairly seamless*, so control differences didn't bother me at all (having previously driven vehicles from at least five different manufacturers in quite a range of sizes and forms, all with their own control differences).

Since one of my legs is not great, I had them walk me to it (saving me some walking to search for placard) and bring it down to entry mode so it would be easier to get in. I also asked them to make exiting the crowded lot in an unfamiliar vehicle a bit easier (something that always bothers me with picking up an unfamiliar vehicle, whether purchase or rental), so they moved another vehicle. That was all I needed, and they were good about that bit.

With the long wait we all went through to get our VINs, I had after all read the owner's manual a couple of times, and some of the service manual too. :)

All of that seems reasonable preparation on my part, and reasonable accommodation on theirs. Certainly they should be prepared to deal with all kinds of customers; but those customers (or people in general) that make no effort to be prepared for an unfamiliar experience don't get all that much sympathy from me.

And I had looked up the ratings on the Tesla service/pickup centers near me. I was fortunate that the one of the two I was scheduled for pickup at was the higher rated, and I'd say that aside from being a bit slow (they did a good job of prepping, and they did have a reasonable number of people picking up), they did great.

Fact. They get $16 and hour
Have no clue about truck
Process papers
They take your money. Hand you key cards. Program your cell.
End of story.
To expect anything more is a dream

The entire delivery process was wonderful. The fact that no one bugged me while I found and looked over my Cybertruck was great. I was able set it up and when I was ready, a Tesla delivery person came and stayed with me and went over everything for as long as I wanted. I was not rushed at all. They stayed with me as long as I wanted and came back again before I left to make sure I was all set. I didn't need someone to fuss over me because I bought a car, I only wanted someone to help me finish the setup and show me things I did not know or understand.

As an avid car buyer, my experience this afternoon was perfect!

I arrived via an Uber at 2:10pm for a 2:30pm delivery time. My Cybertruck pulled out of detail at 2:20pm. I was on my way at 2:35pm!!

Awesome Day, Awesome Delivery &&&& an Awesome Vehicle.

I then made my 3pm appt at Costco to do my Nitrogen exchange in these monster tires.

Full tinting in the morning!!

I had a good experiance, not great, with both of my Teslas in 2024. Two big downsides.... only outside delivery available regardless of weather and no ability to inspect the vehicle in a well lit environment. Luckily both vehicles (M3P and Cyberbeast) had no issues but if they did, it would have been a pain for sure. Both times, the guy who delivered the car to us was very helpful and was willing to show us as little or as much as possible. Was it a 5 star experiance, no, but it was acceptable.

In comparison when I took delivery of my M4 comp at the factory in SC, with a included hotel stay, food, transporation and day at the track its not a fair comparison.

Someone said previously, Tesla is not in the Luxury car market, they are producing vehicles with features they feel every person should have access to and of course their is some room for upgrades but the base car (software, screen, features ect is consistent accross the entire product line and they want the vehicles to be able to work for the masses not only a select few but their is demand hence the Truck, Roadster ect but look at the R&D times, delivery, prices ect, it isn't their core business and thus they tailored the support services (maintenance, customer service ect accordingly). Unfortunately for HNWI that are coming from a luxury brand to Tesla, this is where expectations are misaligned and I think they could do a better job for cars above 》$100k with very minimal investment that I think would go along way to boost their sales in those products.

That’s how it is in Austin at least. Name card on the dash and they walk you through and are very nice.

Yup. Same here. Not great. I feel like Tesla should have given me a notification.
“Hey listen, we are all about lowering costs, getting you away from the normal terrible car salesman experience. So please excuse us if your car is not 100% clean, and if we expect you to figure stuff out on your own.”
I would have been prepared? They had a sign on my car with my name. I still wonder, to this day, if they really just hoped I would find my car, on my own, and leave without any staff interaction.
I love my CT, and have figured everything out. Just not sure what to make of that initial experience.

My wife and I have had four Tesla delivery experiences and 5 new car/truck purchases that were not Tesla. All Tesla delivery experiences were very good to excellent, all non-Tesla experiences were sub-par, below acceptable. They all left us with a pit in the bottom of our stomachs that ruined what should have been a very happy day. That's never even come close to happening with Tesla.

Maybe you just like to have your hand held a little tighter than most people when you drive your new vehicle home?

I have read the manual before delivery of every new car I've ever purchased. Because, if you do that, you will know more than the salesman who is supposedly there to help you. In reality, he's there to get as much of your money as possible. That's why his commission is not fixed, it varies with how well he is able to screw you. To add a new level of twistedness, he's supposed to do that while making you think he likes you. It only works on the most gullible, but that doesn't prevent them from trying. Just sickening. I want out of there before I walk in the door.

With Tesla, I always look forward to the delivery experience.
