My beef with Tesla can be best equated to why Jay Leno doesn't own any Ferraris:

"you know you're spending a tremendous amount of money you should be made to feel like a customer "

We're spending a LOT of money on the Cybertruck. Yet Tesla, with ZERO communication, ZERO transparency regarding the product launch, not allowing anyone to even sit in the trucks in showrooms, being forced to pay a $20k 'Foundation' markup, HALF of the promised range... it feels very much like a Ferrari experience.

"Oh you wanted a reasonably priced truck that beats out the competiton in range, features, etc.? Fuck you, pay $100,000 for fewer features and less range, or get to the back of the line. You should be grateful for the PRIVILEGE to even hold a reservation"

I'm not feeling very much like a customer with the Cybertruck launch. It makes me want to reconsider the whole thing.

Interested to hear other's thoughts.
All of your thoughts and feelings are justified. But either suck it up and move forward, or vote with your wallet. Tesla doesn't have to be nice to anyone until it hurts them financially. They aren't exactly a cuddly company, they've been cut throat and have always been that way. Buy a model x one week and the next week they drop the price $10k. Don't like the CT, they'll sell one to the next guy.

You're looking at a product with extreme pent up demand that's extremely difficult to ramp and produce. Tesla quite literally flies by the seat of their pants they probably have no clue how this will all go. I don't think they are intentionally being mean, they have objectives to hit and don't care about the impact it has on your emotions.

All this text and none of it addresses my overall point...

Also I do own a Raptor and had a great experience. Paid sticker and Ford paid for offroad driving school for a weekend, among other perks
Then obviously you feel better as a ford customer and there isn't really any reason for you to switch. Then you're happy with your vehicle and experience and the next person in line is happy.

But people complaining about about things that Tesla does that they have always done as if it's new, or a price increase over the 4 year wait period, or real world range shockingly not matching EPA. It's getting tiring.

I would be very happy if all these posts just turned into canceled reservations. Those people would be far happier people for not having to deal with Tesla and the remaining people would be happier for moving up in line.

This did not happen. The range for the AWD is 340 miles.
Uhhhhhhhhhhh have you seen any of the 20+ videos / posts etc of people actually driving these things?
People are having to charge for an hour and a half to get to 90% so they can get to the next supercharger that is 2 hours away and at 500-800 wh/mile the real world range of the CT is nowhere close to 340 at about 200 when real world driving especially with a good amount of highway.

CTs out there with over 6,000 miles of real world driving and range #s showing barely over 200 miles (AWD)

Tesla Cybertruck Tesla is Not Treating Us Like Customers dahliabunni-popcorn

This is fun to watch. I drive from a state in the north to one in the south. 24 hours of non stop tesla. One driver 1260 miles is what I can cover in 24 hours. Tesla is treating you just fine. Some of you can't do math however about something most of you never do.

Keep watching the videos.o_O

You were comparing a best-case EPA range estimate (500) to worst-case anecdotal results. This is not a valid comparison.

No one promised you 500 miles between Superchargers.

Welcome to the world of being an early adopter. Nice to have you here. However your expectations are not aligned with the the regular early adopters like myself.

In 2019, Tesla showed us their truck CONCEPT. Not a production product. They built ONE prototype and shared their design goals, which included range and cost.

Then the engineers spent 4 years trying to make a product they could actually mass produce. If you have any clue what a design process is like, you would get it.

The final product is amazing. The reality didn't meet all the goals they set and shared in 2019. But it's a freaking awesome truck that people want. Sure with better tires, maybe we get 280mi HWY. Sure, if the battery progress hit that 2019 ambitious target, we would get a 500mi truck (200kwh battery) for less money and weight. It didn't make it.

As engineers, there is a thing called "good enough". And "perfection can be the enemy of done". They decided the design is good enough for Gen1 Cybertruck. Like all Tesla products, they will improve vastly over the years. What's offered now meets my needs and budget. I am a buyer.

If it doesn't meet your needs, don't buy it. Feel free to whine and complain. It just demonstrates that you have no clue what concept to production is like. And how the final product is only some version of the original concept that is actually possible.

Maybe that’s why none of us have VINs yet? Maybe they’re on pause trying to figure out how to address these range reports drivers are posting?

Other's thoughts: Huh?

You weren't promised anything except the opportunity to buy a CyberTruck at some point. It said plain as day when you reserved "price and features subject to change". You reserved based on the concept truck and a list of aspirations.

There is no back of the line if you skip a Foundation Series invite because THERE IS NO LINE. Reservation numbers aren't representative of a place in line.

Also, skipping a Foundation Series invite doesn't put you at the end of the line.

What kind of communication would you like? You'll get an invite to configure for a non Foundation Series when Tesla starts manufacturing for your region, then trim level, then reservation number. This has always been how Tesla operates. They told you this when you reserved.

The Foundation Series is simply a stop gap so they can get exposure and ramp while delivering a premium trim with a premium profit. It's simple supply and demand. Supply is low, demand is high = priced accordingly.
