Tesla Lightbar delivery & install experience

When did you take delivery of your truck? I’ve contacted Tesla numerous times and they claim I’ll get notified when my off-road light bar will come in and the same with the cant rail recall?

Does Tesla or a Service Center actually reach out to you? Or do I need to persistently keep reaching out to Tesla for both?

im trying to get a gauge of I’m given the run around, they’re full of it or others like yourself can confirm or deny how the process works.

May of last year, received e-mail and it showed up in the app as a pending service task.

June of last year. They sent me an email it was ready

My service center is still telling me the primer is back-ordered. Had a tentative appointment for 6/20, that was a month after the first appointment was cancelled due to them not having the primer. Had to cancel this one, also.

They have not even finished provisioning the ones in the U.S yet.

Just learned from my Service advisor that they have done 3-4 so far here. So it looks like they're ramping up

After an 11-month wait, I finally got my lightbar installed.

No instructions on how to connect it, so I opened up the side panel to find that Tesla Service had already made the connection, something they are not allowed to do:

So I put the side panel back, and tried to power up the lightbar. No dice. Tesla Service didn't make the solder connections above the cantrail, leaving the difficult part for me to do, and going against the instructions above.

So I found all the wires, at the top, in two bundles. The one that goes down the side panel had the wires all touching. So by making the connection behind the side camera could have been a huge problem when I turned on the power to the lightbar. So I made the solder connections, and used the heatshrink tubes they gave me (which were too large). It worked, and the light works, but I'm not happy with the placement.

The Service manual says to mount it like this, flush with the sunroof, for a clean look:

They mounted it like this:

Which results in the lightbar floating above the sunroof by about 5mm or more:

This results in noticeable wind noise at higher speeds, and poor aerodynamics.

Did anyone else have a poor lightbar installation?

Very excited to have gotten my lightbar installed just a few days ago. Here’s my experience. I tried to make an appointment on the app, it was cancelled and told to wait for an email when available. I instead, went to a service center in person and talked to the service manager who was able to order the bar and complete installation within a week. I had to connect the bar myself ( easy 2 minute job) if you’re used to working on cars and molding. If not, maybe 15 minute then. The following day I drove down to LA freeway speeds. No issues at all, no extra wind noise, no failures. Average speed 70-80 with occasional 90 to pass. Got a chance to turn it on at night. Photos don’t do it justice but it pretty awesome. Controlled from either plugs and accessories or lights tab. You can assist the output same as bed lights. You can choose between ditch, food, or both.

Be careful folks, had mine installed also, two months later it flew off (glue separated

in the middle of the bead, some left on glass & light bar) while on the highway. My beast is garage kept, and few long trips. See pictures
