So wait, they updated the service doc to now unplug the feed to the roof under the B connector applique instead of putting a quick connect under the roof applique? That seems silly…. Every time you take off a trim piece the odds of it coming off later or rattling or something go up an order of magnitude. Would have been way better to just put a weatherproof connector under the top roof-rack door or something.
The connector only needs reconnected once. Tesla can install the hardware, but can't make it functional.
Connector in B pillar already exists.
Spliced wires are lower profile than connector.
B pillar trim is easier to remove than roof (at least it requires less specialized tools)

There's little doors in the roof applique that you use to bolt down roof racks, so if they had a slim weather proof connector under one of those doors, it would be trivial to connect without having to remove any trim pieces. I get what you're saying about splices being lower profile - that's a great point actually - but I think the chances of being able to connect a male and female low profile under a door that's made to be opened a closed multiple times is still going to be better long-term than having people pop off their B-pillar trim.

Thanks for the pictures. I’m totally stoked. I can’t wait to get this Light bar. Taking my beast next week to get the motor replaced for the wiper. I talked to Tesla Service today said that light bar wasn’t available yet.??‍♂

They would need to add another door since the rack mounts take up all the space in the existing ones.

It's an easier than the previous roof trim solder & shrink wrap task owners were facing. One more cycle (would it ever need undone again?) on that piece's clips is a lot less than my wheel fairings have gone through from switching between on and off road configurations.

Yeah I guess I was thinking the wiring could just go around the roof rack attachment hardware on the front-most mounting position versus having someone have to take off their B-pillar trim. To be honest, I haven't looked at what it takes to remove the B-pillar trim so maybe it's easy, but the thought of taking it off scares me based on the pictures in the updated install docs.

It doesn't look bad, peel back door seal, remove the lower trim piece via two tclips. Then one bolt, three more clips, and slide it up.

im ok either way but think it's better for most if Tesla does the soldering / shrink wrap, etc up top and the average CT owner just has 1 trim piece and 1 connector...my 2 cents....just give me the damn light bar! :)

The picture last week showed it glued to roof, and wires not connected. The guy said SC could not connect the wires. Illegal. He connected. But it doesn't look any brighter than normal LED 54 in ch bar?
I mounted 54 under bumper. And I'm installing a 50 on roof this weekend.

My VIN is 38,XXX, and I got mine this week. It was just a random invite, as I received CB on 09/10/24 and didn't do anything special to get it.
Wow. My vin is 8k and nothing yet.
