If you tailgate rock trucks or pass them going the opposite direction, live in an area that hails, I’d say yea. I don’t have it myself.

Just keep in mind it’s another monthly revenue stream for Tesla.

You can rest assured that Tesla actuaries have crunched the numbers and assessed the risks. They have determined that it would be profitable to offer windshield insurance to Cybertruck owners.

My state requires 0 deductible windshield replacement as part of comprehensive coverage. God forbid you actually have to use it though (like i did) ^^^premiums^^^

I added the windshield protection plan after my windshield stress cracked when hitting a curb.
$420 a year for 12 free windshields if need vs insurance premium going up if used even once. No brainer for me seeing how easily they crack.
Cybertruck windshield is not a cheap $200 Safelite fix. that huge windshield is thousands of dollars to replace

Dang! How hard did you hit the curb? Or did you hit the curb with the windshield? That’s a wild one.

Doing a U turn and the right front tire went up on the curb. It was either that or back up in traffic. Soon as I went up on the curb the windshield cracked. So yeah $35 a month so I can drive over curbs! 😝

this tells me something is wrong with your build, something is loose causing the frame to twist and cause the added stress on the windshield, if you cannot climb a curb you definitely cannot do an off road trail. You should get that inspected. I have been over 3 foot ice banks to park on them and many of curbs, no issues.

Any type of plan like this is offered because it's profitable for the company. Meaning the odds are against you. I don't know what type of insurance you have but with glass I have no deductible.

I bought it as soon as it was offered for my MY. Within 10 days a rock hit very close to the top of the windshield and started a crack which of course propagated. The service center replaced it while I drove around in a cyberbeast for a couple of hours. At checkout he started to say “that will be…”, and then he said Oh! You bought the insurance! I was thanked and sent on my way.
It’s easy math to determine how often your windshield needs require replacement to break even on the insurance.
I’m buying day one on my $59k AWD

True, but the nuance is: how much does one drive?

The more one drives, the more risk is onboared for a windshield claim via Tesla. As you say, Tesla's run the numbers, and on average, I doubt they're loosing money.

However, if a high mileage driver may also benefit from this as Tesla will calculate something akin to the fleet average for risk (i.e. average mileage driven vis-a-vis average glass repair/replace cost) where the 40k/year driver still pays the same as the 12k/year driver despite almost 4x the risk, at least on distance.

They're other nuances too but the distance seems the cleanest/simplest, and the further one is into the higher mileage tail, the more it'll make sense. Just as the further one is into the low mileage tail, the less it'll make sense.

I would just use my insurance. No deductible and no premium increases.

I would definitely pay $35/mo for a $2800 replacement. Unfortunately, it wasn't available when I purchased mine.

I don't see how. A new windshield for me is $100 on my car insurance. I've had to use that 2-3x over the last 30 odd years. Deer and rocks.
