Well we did have 4 cylinders and v6, different transmissions, sunroofs or no sunroof, etc. arguably way more extra parts than Tesla is doing on the cybertruck that both models are very similar besides the drivetrain. Just seems strange to me as advanced as Tesla is in manufacturing, I can’t buy its much else than lack of parts.
And that would suggest that they are having problems source the front permanent magnet motors. What else is different?

Good point. Seems more people are interested in info about their order than giving feedback once they get it delivered.
This seems to very much be the truth. I guess I don't blame them, probably working to pay the payment jk. I plan to follow through and hopefully make some fellow CT owners as friends along the way. People seem diverse, lots of good debate and conversation to be had still.

The capture rate for this forum in my opinion statistically looks pretty low. I got my VIN today and it was a 1/17 captured VIN. We have 13 people that filled out the form for people that received their vehicle.
seems like we might be talking about two different things?

there’s capture rate for people who receive invites and place an order.

then there’s capture rate for people who later receive their order.

for the latter, agree there’s reason to think it could be pretry low

Too bad Tesla won’t tell us how many invites to configure they have sent out. Then we could compare how many added orders to the spreadsheet.

Of course if releasing them all at the same time was so easy, why would they not include the RWD version.
for one, because not a single RWD has ever been built, even in prototype. There were a LOT of people surprised by that inclusion in the delivery event info.

Several parts of the driveline are different, and non-trivial.

Tesla doesn't do thing the way that others do.
no doubt

for better and worse

Nice bump in VIN activations today, which I correlate to production. The more production, the closer to Vin assignment we are (read: “I am”). I plan to post here once my VIN is assigned and then maybe once when I receive my CT. After that, I will likely disappear from this forum.

Thanks again @newave1331 for sharing your data with the rest of us. Much appreciated! :)

That makes sense since Tesla has never made a RWD before. Wait! That's what I'm driving.

Several parts of the driveline are different, and non-trivial.
It make sense, Tesla hasn't made a tri-motor before. I wonder how many motors the Model S has?
And I just realized that I made an error with the question about sourcing the permanent magnet motor. It's the extra rear motor that I believe they are already making?

Sure, you have some points, Sure you may be correct. But in my book, Tesla is only following the playbook that they created. We may never know the reality.

Yesterday (1/22/24) Giga Austin hit a milestone and activated their 1,000th cybertruck VIN.

This is counting the RCs, MCs, Showrooms and Foundations but they all came out of Austin. ?

Here is the breakdown of each build type as of the end of today:
