It always sucks to have problems with one’s auto. But at least Tesla always comes through with a fix. My experience with other brands like GM, Ford, Toyota, Lexus, and BMW is sometimes they just won’t fix obvious issues and will fight hard to push back.

This even why carpeting needs to meet certain standards, flammability and gases when burnt. You can’t just drop in a patch of shag to rest your feet when you’re cruising.
...Except patches of shag already have to meet flammability standards to be sold...

I have owned 4 Teslas and 25 other cars. Ten were first editions. I’m going to tell everyone here, the ten had a slew of problems with them. One of the downfalls of owning the first ones. None of these problems were life threatening. Neither is this pedal thing. Tesla will address these problems and fix them.

Update! With persistence, I got the tailgate to open.
But now it randomly and repeatedly opens. I closed it, went in the house and then it opened. Did this twice. Closed it a watched from afar and it did it again. Tried closing it and it wouldn’t stay shut. Something like this makes it not drivable. I can’t have the tailgate doing this when I’m out and about.

the service center said that I can bring it in and they can keep it until they get the parts. I feel like they are about to have my truck for a long time.

You could ask them to just disconnect the switch so you have to use the main screen or app to open it.

I’m starting to get a little frustrated with the problems I’m having with the Cybertruck. Yes, I know this comes along with being one of the first ones off the production ramp but the service response time is slowing down (probably because of the pedal issue taking precedent)

It started with an imperfection on my windshield that caused there to be a long line on my line of sight. They replaced my windshield but I think something happened to the top gear selector panel. It dropped down and won’t stay back up.

Next, my tailgate won’t open. This happened once before but I was able to keep trying and eventually it opened. This time, it’s not working.

Also, when I turn left or right, there are loud creaks coming from the bottom of the center console. I put foam underneath and this worked for a few days. Now it’s even louder.

I’m waiting to hear a response from the service center for a week now.

Oh and I got the rivet installed in my pedal at Cybertruck Takeover an it does not look like it’s installed in the proper place. The guy said they are all like this but later at home I saw that mine was the only one on right on the edge. I’ve added this to my service ticket as well.

My floor does the same thing under the center console. Doesn't really bother me just does it when you turn occasionally. Had it into the service center for drivers window replacement, mine was cracked on delivery they give me option to wait for repairs or take delivery, I took delivery and when they had it in I asked him about the floor creek and they said it is normal. Or at least that the other one on the lot did the same thing.

They're not even countersinking the hole and using a flush head screw? That is pretty ghetto for a $100k+ car.
If I'm not mistaken they said this is a temporary fix until the pedals can be replaced. I could be wrong. I don't care about the rivet That's me personally.

Technically it is used outside on the skin of aircraft like Cessnas and Pipers, those with aluminum skins.

And you’d have an A&P mechanic certified by the FAA. And the repair procedure would be documented as part of the aircraft certification. And you’d have TSO specific parts, not just parts from the bin at Harbor Freight.

Right?

Just because you “see” it on aircraft doesn’t explain the layers required to implement it that way.

Otherwise, it would have to be labeled “experimental” for each and every passenger who got in.

This even why carpeting needs to meet certain standards, flammability and gases when burnt. You can’t just drop in a patch of shag to rest your feet when you’re cruising.
But staying on subject, it is considered a safe and reliable solution. Wouldn't you agree?

If done correctly, sure. Hence why FAA trained people do it, not even pilots.

You can use an epoxy to set up sections of wing and avoid rivets. Cirrus and Diamond come to mind.

You can also use metal machine screws. My galvanized metal roof comes to mind.

You can use VHB to attach, a spoiler to an aluminum trunk deck, my Tesla comes to mind.

But that doesn’t mean a rivet is the best solution here. Remember the engineers at Tesla thought adhesive glue was good, until an assembly person decided to use soap. There are still far too many ways for a rivet to go to wrong.

Man I feel you so much. 1/2 my ownership time the truck has been at service. broken screen, lte, factory damaged interior parts, trim panels and still pending interior rattles.
They had my truck for 2 weeks with no one working on it. I got super feed up and messaged the director of service (ex Tesla employee and asked around my old co workers).
that’s when they started to work on it but it still took way to long and I still have another 5-6 things that need to be fixed.

... and tomorrow Jalopnik, Gizmodo and every single woke blog will rip this off word for word and frame it as CT is DOA and Tesla imminent demise...

not trying to minimize pain or annoyance.. but..
My 2006 Nissan Murano went through several major recalls: fuel tank replacement, fuel tank protection plate install (from road debries puncturing tank), Controls head unit replacement, front wheel ball bearing replacement and something with transmission - all under warranty. and it was 2-d gen model update from well established Japanese brand!
Still love my Murano! :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. At this point, I have given up on how much media is biased to these threads. To be honest, I haven’t seen a single positive article picked up from this forum by the media. Every article picked up by media from this forum is all about trashing CT. There are so many customers like you who are happy with CT. Media is just picking rant threads and putting CT in a bad light always! I keep getting messages from friends and family pointing to these news articles. I just smh, because I know which exact thread and OP triggered that negative media article.

It’s important for OPs to post their negative experiences. So, I wouldn’t blame them. I’m just pointing out that media is good in cherry picking rants threads for Cybertruck! I don’t know why some people just want Cybertruck to fail so badly.
A lot of it just EV haters and a lot could be Musk digging his own grave.
