I drove the DeLorean home from the Electrify Expo on TX-130 (right past the factory!), minding my own business doing the speed limit (85MPH!) in the right lane.

Virtually every car that passed me had either driver or passenger holding up their phone to take a picture.

This is going to be your life as a Cybertruck owner. For a long time.

@CyberGus put your DeLorean on a trailer behind your Cybertruck and drive around!

I enjoyed the pics of your DeLorean and its honor guard at Electrify Expo

She is just beginning the process of dealing with it. How many times did she say "no way"? Yes, way!
I think you're right that he's getting one. It was the kid saying, "No way", not the significant other. The man said, "I'm getting that", the significant other says, "No we're not" and the guy follows up with a self-assured "I am." (emphasizing his own autonomy when it comes to chosing his own vehicle).

Whether that autonomy exists in that particular relationship, we can't be sure, but just know, that while all relationships have some give and take in them to make them work, that give and take does not necessarily imply the woman has the final say in every decision. My observation is that is not the case in most healthy relationships. We have no idea what their financial situation is, or whether it would be unreasonable for the man to buy a new vehicle or not. Family economics should be the real question, not whether the significant other approves of her man's taste in trucks.

Just know that the recent evidence that Tesla intends to take the ban on scalping seriously, not only makes the line shorter for those of us with early reservations, it also will make it easier for regular blokes who didn't plan ahead, and who aren't wealthy, to get their hands on one themselves in a more reasonable timeframe and without having to pay exorbitant and unrealistic prices. I expect about 50-75% of existing reservations to vanish, without ending in a purchase. Of course, new reservations, from other potential purchasers will take their places, and the new reservations will likely have a higher rate of conversion to actual sales because they won't be loaded with multiple reservations per reservationist with the intent to scalp them for a profit.

Your DeLorean can do 85 mph? Ha, just kidding!

I'm not looking forward to all the attention, but I just might be old enough to not be too bothered by it either. Because the older you get, the less you care. Not that I'm all that old, it's just that I would have been really sensitive to all that attention in my 20's-40's. Also, I think the attention might die down a bit more quickly than one might assume, due, in part, to just how different it is. It's unforgettable enough that people will quickly get used to it as more and more are sighted on the road. Of course, I could be wrong about that!

I really dislike it when some people pretend like everyone is as pussy-whipped as they are, that every relationship is as unbalanced as the one they are in, that nobody has a wife that trusts and respects their decisions enough to let them make the decision as to what they drive.

I find it shocking that so many men are subservient to their wives preferences. A relationship between responsible adults should allow and accomodate each partners wants and needs, not be a dictatorship, unless one partner is so irresponsible that it's just better that way. If so, I wouldn't be bragging about it, or pretending that it's normal.

out of 187,130 posts on this forum, this is the piece of wisdom I wish someone shared with me when I was single. Someone probably did and I dismissed it as a joke. Not so funny now.
And THIS is exactly why my wife (and everyone else in my family) doesn't know I'm on the list. It will just show up in the driveway some day in the FAR future.

Not by the time I get mine. Every other vehicle on the road will be a CT. I'm WAY down on the list. :(
My only hope is that my tri-motor will get pushed more towards the front of the line.

And THIS is exactly why I'm married to the woman I am. All she asks is; I buy a car that makes me happy. I don't spend more than we can afford. It may have taken me a while to find her, but it was a trip worth taking.
