I honestly just dug into this vehicle it seems pretty awesome. Did anyone consider it before making their CT purchase?

Looks wise it looks great, but when it comes to software/charging infrastructure, I'm immediately put off..
Isn’t there charging very high powered?

I think it looks great, if it had come out before I got my CT I would be driving it.

There is one thing I have learned since it came out though that is a deal breaker for me. It is absolute dog shit off-road. No locking diffs means it struggles to get over even a small slippery bump. FLT did a YT video showing its poor capability.

If you are wanting to do any sort of towing and practicality, the Silverado EV beats the CT by a mile. That drop down rear cabin wall is awesome! If you want more capability off-road and more advanced ADS, go with the CT. Both are great trucks.

Its a full price knock-off ev truck and they're not cheap.

To build a somewhat comparable truck to a CT AWD, you have to start with a trail boss as that is the only model to have rear steer. Then you need to add the outboard power option. Need full glass roof, add another 7k+. No steer by wire. Prices are 70-108k range minus whatever incentives they have going on. No way I'd buy one unless it was 30-40% cheaper than a CT
You listed a lot of what YOU like. I want room with towing that’s EV and many other things it looks as tho they do have

The GMC Sierra version is the one that comes with all the goodies and a price to match.

They have a massive battery and good range. But they are a car manufacturer, not a software company. My dad owns an EV Hummer and an EV Porsche. Both great cars, but would not trade for them due to the software alone. Tesla wins, also the charing infrastructure is better, but that will change, I’m not sure if the latest EV chevys are using NACS yet or not. Also personally I think it looks cheesy, it’s too rounded and smooth, it’s trying to looks too EV and too truck at the same time. The lightning did a better job of just looking “truck”, Rivian looks “EV” (actually it looks like Gumby, because of the headlights, and it’s the only reason I’m not driving one). I think the EV Silverado will be a decent truck for those that need one, but overpriced for what you get.

That’s great info. The towing is what shocked me. I was taken back by the price too tho

I think the biggest NO for me is the efficiency of the EV truck. At 215kw battery pack, that’s over $80 per charge so driving is going to cost so much compared to the efficiency of the CT.

I thought long and hard before going with CT. If Tesla made 500 miles range I don’t think the battery sizes will be over 200kw.

My 2cent

You pay premium prices for the max range than you pay premium out of pocket per charge. That to me has to hurt your wallet long term.

The Silverado EV's WH/m is pretty close to the CT.

I've seen tests that put it around 460-480 at 70mph and low 300s at 50mph. about 30-40 wh/m higher than the CT AWD.

What that means is that it's not much more expensive than the CT to drive. You don't have to fill up the battery pack to max, but if you do it charges faster than the CT (even with the bigger battery) and will drive almost double the distance at speed and/or with weight.

IMO, that's it's only advantage (maybe luxury in the GMC with real leather, etc.). For some, it's enough and they are starting to sell more and more.

Everything else the CT does better IMO.

I rented A Silverado Work Truck with large battery for a week last year (actually late fall of 2024). I had never driven the Cybertruck so I almost bought the Silverado EV several times in the past year and a half. It was comfortable with good range but slow CCS crap charging and drove like the bigass pickup it is. Also, the Chevy "software" was awful. The upgraded models had bling interior (all chrome cheap plastic/leather) and the Pass through bed thing added cabin noise and wasn't a feature I wanted anyway (wife would never sleep in the truck bed). Honestly after my first Cybertruck drive it was that or the Rivian R1T. A couple of test drives of the Rivian sealed the deal. Cybertruck was going to be my next vehicle purchase and it's in the garage. No regrets and only good things to say about the 2026 92K+ VIN Cybertrucks.

There is a Nova Scotia couple with a small youtube channel towing a Airstream with the Silverado EV. Mixed results in that COLD climate and many charging nightmare stories.

They can use most Tesla chargers now plus the charging curve is pretty crazy on 350kw 10-80% in 35 min.

Awesome truck as far as hardware, software is awful and I wouldn’t go back to CCS after my lightning. The charging curve on their highest range seemed really good when out of spec reviewed it.
