Maybe so…but there is always a way around that I imagine. “Here is a model x or Cybertruck loaner to drive around while we have our best tech spend two days ironing out the specific issues you’re having with your truck even though we’re busy”is likely a better solution than a buyback ...
I must have had their worse tech work on my truck. Multiple plastic fasteners missing around the fender liners, different bolt securing the aero shield (possible cross thread), scratches all over the frunk tub, broken coolant line causing a rattle.....overall, multiple signs a tech just didn't give a f*** while working on my truck. That's just on the stuff I can see! I'd probably find more issues if I pulled the aero and frunk liners out.

...and it’s hard for me to imagine many people saying “fuck you, I don’t want that, take my truck back right now”
Being on my 5th visit for the front motor noise and poor workmanship from a tech on the 4th visit, yea, I'm at that point. 🤣

This is what’s been happening, and it’s very obvious. Good on them for getting free use vehicles.
Is it really free though? The next Tesla you buy will cost more as a result of buyback abuse - whether this is abuse is another question.

I believe I’m finally getting this issue fixed but I wonder if this was teslas way of skirting a lemon law buy back(not that this issue warranted one). They classified this as “could not reproduce” then in the first sentence admitted the noise. Odd verbiage

Yup, a 3rd Cybertruck is coming his way.

I read that Tesla deducts $1 per mile from the reimbursement "buy back" check. Can anyone confirm?

The buy back rules depend on each state. Some deduct $0.50 per mile during the “trouble period” and $1 per mile otherwise.

On my buyback proposal, they charged me $200 for approximately 2150 miles.

I will say, he has been unlucky with the multitude of issues hes had between two trucks. I understand some dont care about build quality as much as others, but the reality is that some do have expectations of a degree of quality for the price of the vehicle.

i can empathize, i am on my 2nd CT and in 10k miles/ 1 year, my truck has spent over 30 business days in service and is currently in service (for the past week) for a failed power steering ecu which will now likely result in a new steering rack.

you know, ideally service work is performed to factory specifications, but it often is not. The more someone digs into the vehicle, the higher the probability of something being put back together incorrectly.

ive considered repurchase (for a second time) but im holding off for now.

I took my 2026 AWD Premium in for service today with 144 miles. The creaking sounds coming from the passenger area were so distracting that I’d let FSD drive while I looked behind me for the source of the noise. So today,I took the service technician on a short drive and he heard it as well. Then he wanted to ride in the backseat and, within seconds, located the source of the noise. Some panel behind the back seats was making all the racket. He wasn’t sure if it was due to a broken fastener or something else but he set my expectations and said I may have to leave the vehicle overnight or more while they get a replacement part. He also seemed to suggest that he’s seen other issues like this from the factory. I’ll see if I can pick their brains some more when I pick up the vehicle.

On the plus side, they gave me a foundation series AWD loaner vehicle to use overnight. 15,000 miles on the odometer and trash everywhere inside so maybe that’s not such a plus. Looks like it had been driven to hell and back but no creaks!!
