Discount Tires provide tire rotation and balancing for free on all Teslas, including Cybertruck. I just had mine done last week.
Really? You don’t need to have purchased tires from them?

That is a great company. They must own Tesla stock;)

Dude, come on. Perhaps some people have physical limitations and not everyone is married to an East German dead lifter;)

Relax on being critical of people when you don’t know anything about them. Boo to your reply. Merry Christmas

Since 2022 I’ve received free rotations and balances. You don’t need to purchase anything from them. I think it’s more so to build the relationship, so that you’ll buy the tires from them.

Another good thing about them is if you get a nail or something in your tire, they’ll give you the option to buy the tire warranty before they inspect the tire, and if it needs to be replaced they’ll do it under warranty as long as the tread isn’t low.

In 2023 this was great for me because I went through a period where I was getting nails every 2-3 weeks, for 4-6 months. Which is probably because we have way too much construction going on in NE FL.

Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't bitch about cost.

Trust me when I tell you, tire shops that offer free services are not doing it out of any philanthropic or socialistic ideals, or because they are a "great company", they do it so they can increase their chances of being able to inflate the price of cheap tires at later date, and have them installed by a poorly trained and under-paid worker and hope you don't notice.

My main problem is they know most motorists are often strapped for cash so they carry and recommend the least expensive tires possible, while telling you how good they are. Every time I've purchased tires from them, I have to special order them, they never have the best tire for my car and my climate in stock. Yes, they cost more, and they are worth it.

Sometimes you will get lucky and find a shop that doesn't have a high turnover rate of the employees who do the actual work, so they are knowledgeable and take appropriate care, use torque wrenches that are actually calibrated, fill the tires to the manufacturers recommendation pressures and follow the manufacturers recommended jacking procedures. They also need to be strong enough (and not too worn out at the end of the day) that they don't damage your wheels and lugs while struggling to get them on or off. But, in my experience, any satisfaction with discount tire shops is more likely due to the fact that you were lucky enough that their work was "good enough" and you never noticed anything was amiss.

The impetus for me to aquire the appropriate tools to do it myself was due to my observation that these things were only done correctly less than half the time.

I was waiting for Les Schwab to finish my car many years ago when a woman rolled up in a minivan with new tires, summoned a mechanic from one of the bays and asked him to double-check the torque on her lug nuts. He said, "Don't worry, I remember your van, we just torqued them to spec 20 minutes ago." She said, yes, but I just wanted you to double-check that they are all correct." He said, "Lady, we already torqued them all, you are good to go." I listened as she then told him the story about how last time they got new tires right before a road trip, at the same shop, one of the wheels fell off on the freeway only 50 miles into the trip, bringing their annual vacation to an unhappy ending. So now her husband insists she always returns, after driving around the block, to have the lug nuts double-checked.

I've had lugs under-torqued by over 30%, tires with wildly different inflation pressures from tire to tire (up to 10 psi), $2,200 damage to the A-arm from improper jacking, crushed floor pans from jacking on the sheet metal, bungled threads on the lugs, damaged rims from improper mounting, etc, etc, etc.

Back in the day, these discount tire shops were much more dependable, around 1998-2008 is when I noticed high employee turnover rates were leaving the tire shops full of people who didn't know what they were doing. Even if they had one shop manager who could change tires competently, he often had a bunch of new hirees who were inadequately trained to be do such important work. The race to lower prices to get your business had begun and anything the customer probably wouldn't notice took a backseat. I watched one employee use a clicker-style torque wrench until it clicked, and then put his body into one final push "for good measure". Pure ignorance of what they were hired to do.

Now I always do my own seasonal tire swaps and rotations. It's just as quick and easy as loading my seasonal tires in the back of my car, dropping the car off at Les Schwab 2 miles away and returning to pick it up and putting the other tires in my garage. Sure, if you run the same tires all year round, it's easier to just drop the car off at a discount tire store, but's it's just as quick to do it yourself.

Just know that "free" services are never really free. They just get at your money other ways. Like by selling you really cheap tires at marked up prices.

Just hit 10K miles on my Cybertruck and discovered something wild: Regular tire shops WON'T touch CT tire rotations. Costco? No. Firestone? Nope. PepBoys? Also refusing.Tesla's solution? They'll do it for $295. Yes, you read that right—nearly $300 for a basic tire rotation that typically costs $20-50 elsewhere.
It's pointing to a bigger challenge for CT owners: specialized service requirements that limit our options and drive up maintenance costs.

? Question for CT owners: Have you found alternative solutions? Local shops willing to work on the truck?

If you're considering a CT purchase, factor this in: Standard maintenance might not be so standard. Basic services could require Tesla service center visits at premium prices.

Thanks!
I went to Goodyear, rotation, balancing everything was done by Goodyear. Free of charge

Generally speaking, most men have an impact gun and a jack. If you don’t you should get one.
This is roughly about a 15 minute jack up one side flip the tires. Jack up the other side flip the tires. I mean guys you did buy a cyber truck your masculinity has got to kick in here somewhere!?
Let’s be honest the ladies like it!?
Otherwise forfeit you man card and shell out the cash!!? ?

No, most men do not have these things.

I do, but most men do not.

I wouldn't use an impact driver on lugs, though. Too easy to cross thread them.

Remember on Home Improvement when Tim would say “well lemmie try the Binford Touquemaster 9000!” and completely obliterate the project?

I’ve learned over the years that paying a skilled professional is money well spent.

You do not have to pay for rotation tire at discount tire or a good year as far as I know. Do your research!

Most men I know that have a truck do. At least most of the ones that I know that are Gen X or boomers. I guess I can’t speak for most of the younger ones. But they should Learn and be able to if they can’t!
My 22-year-old daughter can do that. Since you do have those things you can keep your man card! ?
Absolutely, you always start threading your lug nuts by hand so you do not cross thread them!! Then finishing them with An impact gun or a Torque wrench.?
