I pulled my 2300 pound boat from Orlando to the keys about 300 miles
I had to stop every 90 miles on the turnpike to recharge that means three different times on the way to the keys
Each time you stop, you’ve got to unhook your boat in order to charge the truck not only is it hard to do It’s hard to find a place to leave the boat.
Each time I charge 100% about 318 miles so basically you only get 30% the miles when pulling a very light load
Tesla needs to figure this out. I will not be pulling any distance again

Not sure about those numbers but Tesla ain’t figuring out a way to bypass physics.

I just towed a box trailer about 200 miles, ended up at 12%, started at 100%. Less than my Raptor but not significantly less.

Nothing beating a diesel for towing.

Aerodynamics plays a huge role.

Part of the issue is that the CT's aerodynamics are beneficial while not towing, they actually play a huge roll in the inefficiency at higher speeds while towing. There's more drag on the trailer than with other trucks due to the aerodynamics.

You're just driving wrong, just ask @Crissa and @Woodrick. You should really enjoy stopping every 90miles, who would even want to hold their bladder that long?! Forget the Keys, stop and smell the roses, "stretch your legs, go pee, eat, buy tchotchkes, etc." man :ROFLMAO:

Must be a very small box trailer… otherwise hard to believe CT can tow it for 200 miles.

I bet it will be much better if you tow your boat with bottom up… it essentially become a bowlus trailer. All jokes aside, boat on the trailer is basically a parachute for the CT,what speed were you towing?

No EV truck is designed to do long distance towing. By long distance I mean anything above 100 miles. The only way to solve this is to have pull through chargers. Even if the range doubles, there is always someone who wants to tow a parachute. We just need pull through chargers everywhere. If daily long distance towing is my gig, Semi is a better option!

That's probably a handful of miles more than my extended range Lightning. The EV trucks that qualify as a decent for towing are the GM twins. That's what makes them so appealing. The CT's cool, but hard to ignore 450 miles of range for the same price via GM if you're the type that tows or does frequent long trips on highways.

Is this your first EV? If so, I learned the hard way too when I got my LER. If EV trucks weren't fast, comfortable, and fun to drive; I'd go back to an ICE truck where I wouldn't find myself complaining when I have to tow, take a road trip, or the temps are cold outside.

My tolerance threshold is MAX charge twice per day. So i need to find a travel trailer can at least go 170 mile max range which means i can go 350 miles with 20% left when i arrive the destination. At 55 mph, i need 6.5 hours behind the wheel and 1.5 hours charging time, adds up to 8 hour per day.

i cannot imagine to tow a boat over 50 miles since i live lake front and closest ocean launch only 15 miles away.

Checkout the Pebble trailer. It has drivetrain to propel the trailer. I won’t be surprised if other manufacturers start building battery powered trailers. Electric trucks won’t be able to tow long ranges mainly because of aerodynamics. If someone tows 11,000 lbs mass that’s shaped like a streamlined bullet and size of a bike, then your numbers might be possible even with the current EV trucks, but such a trailer is of no use. One might assume with a large battery the problem will be solved but no. Airstream is one of the most aerodynamics trailer. If you get Bambi 16’, you might be able to get 120-140 miles in current AWD with AS tires, especially in a non windy flat road condition. If someone has box or horse trailer, a large battery won’t help.

Actually AA bambi 20 can get 180 miles max range on a relative flat low wind with 55 mph. i was hoping safari condo one can get more miles.

Safari condo was my top choice before I bought Basecamp 20X. It can be stored inside the garage if you can fit the length, as the height retracts. My only concern was the service and the community support. No matter how amazing the trailer build quality is, they all break at some point, sooner than we imagine, and the more moving parts, the higher the probability of something breaking.

Best is to rent them out before buying. I rented several models before locking on Basecamp 20X.

I just sold my Basecamp. Unless I’m able to store the trailer at my home, it requires half day prep and half day cleanup. Not the best use of my time to be a weekend warrior. I have decided to go Cybertent route once I have it. Just some thoughts to think about if this is your first time buying a trailer.
