I use FSD beta often during city driving, but not when I want to relax and never when anyone else is in the car. It takes hyper attention whenever there are other vehicles or pedestrians within a hundred feet or so. I don't view its actions as dangerous, but rather inconsiderate of others around. FSD beta drives like an asshole. It will slow down in areas where humans (except jerks) would maintain a higher speed, Yields, roundabouts, and even stop signs. Previous versions would drive more human like, but Tesla haters complained because it wouldn't come to a complete stop at stop signs (like all humans do). It isn't very good at deciding when to change lanes ahead of an upcoming turn. I know from daily commuting experience when is too early or too late to move into a new lane preparing for a merge or turn, often dependant on time of day or special events that will make traffic density/direction differ from the ordinary.

Despite driving the same route, the same time of the day, and intervening EVERY time, FSD beta doesn't learn. That is understandable, but is also a problem. I've considered getting my car registered out of state so I'll have an out of state license plate to warn people that my car will react like someone who has never driven this road before. I hate being that jerk who passes the line of cars who have moved into the correct lane early to avoid having to cut in at the last second in traffic. I just can't be that person. FSD override is the only way to maintain my sanity.

I chose the FSD option when reserving on the chance that RoboTaxi ability would be achieved when my CyberTruck arrives. My fantasy is driving my truck and canoe to the put in point of nearby rivers and send it to my take out spot a day or twos float down river. That's a popular activity in Arkansas. It would be great! but I'm not holding my breath. If autonomy hasn't improved CONSIDERABLY, I'll opt for monthly subscription when FSD for roadtrips would be valuable. 🤞
My only quip with your comment is that the “Tesla haters” in this case was the NHTSA. They have a reasonable argument that an autonomous vehicle should obey the traffic laws. When most of the cars on the road are autonomous that will make sense, but not now.

by the way an ML system doesn’t learn on its own. It is trained to specific kinds of scenarios, but you have figured that out already.

The current EV bill took effect April 18th and there have been many eligibility criteria and limits that have changed from the old incentive programs so that means little to nothing.

Would you agree that purchasing FSD as a software upgrade after delivery would not be included in the MSRP? If Tesla will honor the reserved FSD price for, say, 30 days after delivery, then we can avoid any debate over the eligible price.

This would be the best case scenario but it feels super unlikely. It's almost their leverage to get people to not buy at 7k. Oop, the 7k will put you out of the tax credit. Guess you'll have to buy it for full price after purchase instead.

100%, not included, but doubt that would be an option just based on the past model roll-outs.

Either you take it at a discounted locked in perk (on the sticker) at delivery or pay current retail after the fact. Anything added AFTER delivery obviously can't be held against your incentive claim because its not on the window sticker or your purchase contract.

I hate when people queue up in a single line and there are two lines to queue up in a shorter space because that longer single line interrupts traffic going around it or turning before it should be there.

But right now, FSD has to be that out of state driver, relearning the roads and re-proving itself as they rebuild that machine learning models.

Eventually it'll learn faster, incorporating the 'experiences' that you report back to the mainframe. But even then, they'll have to confirm it isn't leaning less safe or less optimal behavior.

It obeys school zones in some places, maybe yours aren't in the map data? In the West coast states, school zone speeds are only 'when lights flash' or 'while children are (visibly) present'.

Same here.. it blows right by the flashing yellow lights.. and doesn't even slow down a little.. which is ODD... cause EVERY other type of flashing yellow light it slows for.

course it IS june so i have no idea why the school zones were on.. but they were so i had to override.
