My CT will not connect the first two months of ownership, even though it connected fine at the Tesla dealership. I have an eero Wi-Fi network. Not sure if it was the entire combination of remedies, or just one or two actions that fixed it, but the actions items that led to eventual good network connectivity were:
- updating EERO software
- creating a guest network
- turning off the 5 GHz dual-band in order to connect (go to settings, troubleshooting, “my device won’t connect“. This allows you to pause the 5 GHz network, and only run the 2.4 GHz network temporarily, which is friendlier to more devices for Wi-Fi connection.)

my CT has been connecting ever since.

Very interesting... I've tried everything you did except connecting my CT to the guest network. I'll try that and see how it goes.

My CT went back to not connecting to my Wi-Fi network today. first thing was to put my eero in 2.4 GHz mode only (5Ghz disabled). I tried to soft reboot (manually “power down” from cabin display, charging cable disconnected), waited for five minutes and then turned the truck back on. No effect, still wouldn’t connect. Then I did the double steering wheel button press reboot of the computer, closed the door and walked away… 20 minutes later when I looked on my phone, my software was updating. The reboot somehow jumpstarted my the Wifi connection.

This is such an odd situation. I have made no changes to my network other than rebooting the entire eero system. After doing that my CT has been consistently connecting to WiFi. Now there is a firmware update (that for some reason eero doesn’t automatically apply) that I plan to install today. I’ll report back what happens when the update is complete.

I took to SC for spare tire installation and mentioned it for the third time and they replaced something and bam works flawlessly. They tried firmware, they tried checking harnesses(both times rebooted and worked after as always) but now works perfect.

Here to help.

When connected to your home Wi-Fi,
1) tap on the car icon - lower left, then "Wi-Fi" (in the settings menu),
2) tap on your Wi-Fi SSID - SSID being the Wi-Fi name, you should see "Remain Connected in Drive".
3) Make sure there is a check mark beside the "Remain Connected in Drive"

I understand you're not driving the vehicle perse, however when the vehicle is in any other mode other than Park, it will drop Wi-Fi. In your situation, when you come back home, it normally takes a while for the vehicle to connect to Wi-Fi - especially since you stated you also have a weak signal. Additionally, this will help the vehicle immediately try to pick up the signal as soon as you drive within Wi-Fi range.

With this setting enabled, this should resolve your problem.

Please try this and post your findings.

Cheers,
This setting worked, thank you

I'm told certain smart home devices somehow affect Tesla's comms on the same wifi network. I setup a guest network for the Tesla and haven't had any issues since.

I have the same problem on my Unifi network. It used to connect (and stay connected) just fine, but for the past several months, the truck will only connect for 10-15 seconds before more failed retries. I've tried different VLANs (including guest which has the simplest settings).

I also tried adding a non-Ubiquiti access point to my network but it still failed, so I think the problem is in the gateway. I also tried forgetting the truck, as well as using static IP. Signal strength is strong—nearest access point is 20 feet from the truck.

It does connect to Tesla service center, friends' WiFi, and my phone hotspot, so it's not a hardware issue.

What I finally ended up doing is connecting my GL.iNet Beryl VPN travel router to my network and using that router's SSID. The Beryl router is configured to "hide" all clients as a repeater so it sort of bypasses my Unifi Dream Machine Pro gateway. The truck connects just fine to it and downloads whatever it needs. Still sucks that I need this "dongle" on my network to have it work with my Cybertruck. Our Model S & 3 connect just fine naturally to my network, so it's something different with the Cybertruck.

That was incredibly helpful. My Cybertruck doesn’t do this but I too have another Tesla that does. Been trying to solve it for a long time.
thank you

Everyone is so stuck on these Eero routers (also odd so many Cybertruck owners buy Amazon brand routers), when in reality it is clear from all other random make/models of routers the same issue occurs.
From decades of IT work, when something widespread like this is happening, it’s always the NIC chipset in the offending device.
Change out the network interface in the Cybertruck (unclear as to whether it’s part or separate from the main CPU logic board), like one other mentioned, once Tesla replaced “a part” boom it worked effortlessly after.

it’s a bad or faulty NIC in the Cybertruck.

I’ll be bringing it up to my service center next visit.

You should have received in your Tesla app an invoice to approve repairs whether under warranty or not, so if you could please show or indicate what items or hardware shows listed as replaced by service in your invoice.

In the meantime I was actually on the phone with Tesla support today regarding this very issue (and my air compressor still to this day making very loud rattling noise when raising suspension - but I will have a seperate service scheduled for this issue as its been like this since delivery and throughout the winter months since delivery in late OCT) and service after a long conversation with me, mentions various possible issues and me being an electronics tech and have worked with many various brands of NIC’s (Network Interface Cards) throughout the industry, explaining to him that its possible its merely a firmware update within the NIC itself.
He search their database under this premise and lo-and-behold, he said he sees it is listed a reported issue now and that it is noted that service is looking into the problem as “under Investigation”.
I told him that I will not make a service appointment as I know they will just throw parts at it until they say its fixed or just say that it connects to their WiFi and leave at that, however I want to know through process of elimination, what actually repairs the issue, be it a firmware update to the chipset of the NIC or other.

PS: When under service menu in the vehicle, it will show WiFi interface settings or status on the upper left corner when under the “infotainment“ service menu section. The WiFi NIC should show at least in a range of dBm level about -52dbm - this is a good signal level range to begin or the sweet spot per se.
When the NIC is not connecting and you go under the service menu under infotainment section and look at the WiFi NIC status it will all be ghosted and nothing will show levels etc as it is not physically powered up. At least I believe it to be the issue - in other words the NIC after the Cybertruck goes to sleep, never wakes back up and any WiFi connectivity fails. Once you reboot with double scroll wheels, the NIC restarts and thus enables WiFi connectivity again, until the truck goes to sleep for a length of time and the NIC fails to connect.

I, like many others here, have an EERO 6e network.
I repositioned one node to the garage next to my CT. Didn’t make a difference.
Tesla Cybertruck Truck won’t stay connected to WiFi IMG_0650

I tried something while I was screwing around; I turned OFF WiFi diagnostics in the truck.
The next morning, the truck had the latest software downloaded and waiting for installation.
WiFi now seems to be on each morning whenI get in the truck at home. It wasn’t before, and I had to soft reboot the truck to even show my network. It still wouldn’t connect even then.
I’m not sure if turning diagnostics off made the difference, but it seems to be working now. YMMV.

Just picked up a 2025 Dual Motor Cybertruck.. I have the WiFi disconnecting issue.

What I noticed is, when the vehicle "Goes to sleep" the WiFi disconnects.
If I connect via my Tesla app, it "wakes it up" over the cellular connection, and I see it again connected to my Ubuiqiti network.. tried the "leave connected when in drive" checkbox, that makes no difference.. tried connecting to my WiFi network that is only 2.4Ghz, thought that was it, until it went to sleep again.. then disconnected. It does seem like when it goes to sleep, it no longer maintains the WiFi connection.. anyone have any experience different?

Software v12 (2025.26.4)
