2) Water treatment systems for schools in Flint, MI to have safe drinking water.
3) Satellite communication systems for Ukranian troops worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
4) Countless other generous donations...

It looks like even when they are installed correctly, at high speed, they can catch a lot of air underneath the hubcap.

It would be interesting to see a simulation to see if there is a pressure buildup under it.

in other words to see if what is shown in your photo is the cause of the incident or the symptom of the flawed design.

Edit: other hubcaps don’t seem to trap air as much:

Which one is the Corolla hub cap? My wife owned one and we would laugh at nearly every Corolla missing one.

When I saw them in person at the Petersen, it confirmed my total dislike, and I had already made up my mind they were coming off at delivery.
Potentially, they might come off during delivery.... If you take delivery at the factory and drive home you might want to remove before leaving the factory. Or.... How fast do the carry trucks drive? Catch the right wind and there could be a machine gun fire of ufo's.

If the truck actually comes with these I'm taking mine off. They would just get ripped off in deep snow and just become a storage place for dirt, rocks, etc.

Tesla Cybertruck UFO! Cybertruck wheel cover flying off on freeway (video) 🛸 E6B3D361-BC69-4F06-90FF-DD5FBB9AB67D

These covers are the ones I want. They grew on me.

They probably were just slapped on from extra bits around the shop. Hope they make them… and durable!

And this is why prototypes are driven around and tested in real world extensively. Better to catch these things now than when there's hundreds of thousands on the road :)

This is embarrassing AF.

While I agree people who work on wheels and tires should be more meticulous when it comes to checking their work, one mistake hardly reflects badly on the company (no one has 100% perfect employees).

As to level of embarassment, its nothing compared to GM's embarrassment with the EV Hummer. That's a sad excuse for a "truck" if I ever saw one.

That's true. Still makes defending CT harder when this shit happens.

You shouldn't feel the need to defend against a single employeees mistake of the moment.

A hubcap was installed improperly, big deal. Those who work on wheels and tires should be more careful, and check their work, but the same thing happens at professional tire shops across America on a daily basis.
