Noticed this bent separation on my universal wall connector plug. To me it appears overheated then bent but Tesla says nope. They refuse to cover it under warranty calling it “physical damage” done by the consumer.
Anyone experience anything like this?

strange, on a positive note it is really easy to swap out the charger (just shut the breaker and unscrew the 4 cover screws), new one snaps right on.

are you sure you didn't run it over or anything like that?

Nope, haven’t run it over. Just weird because this is the only damage I can find. Nothing on the vehicle charge port, nothing on the wall connector.

Does it still work? There are like 3 temps sensors on those things. I live in AZ and park in my drive. In the dead of summer I got some alerts that my charging suddenly stopped or was reduced. It turned out that the temp sensor was tripping it to reduce power. I hooked it up to Grafana to gather the stats and I don’t remember what the temp was but it would kick off at the same temp on those summer days.

All of this to say if you are adamant that it is from overheating you should be able to get the data from the wall charger and show Tesla support that it’s not regulating the temp. However it doesn’t save the data so you would have to do it going forward and not sure how safe that plug is now.

To me that looks like someone tried to crush it with large needle nose pliers or similar. I don't think you could get that indentation from any amount of overheating.

Is your charger outside and accessible to a vandal maybe?

I can prescribe something that will fix that right up. Don’t drink grapefruit juice with it. What medical insurance do you have?
