Well I can bench that like ...well...let's just say more than once, so it's pretty darn light!!!
Yeah, taking it off is easy. Putting it back on just means aligning all 8 bolts, kind of like when you take wheels off and put them back on. Another option is to just unscrew the crossbars - which is super easy if you’ve got power tools - and then remove each side with 4 bolts.
Hold on a minute, back up the bus.... the rear camera can recalibrate in an entirely different position and FSD doesn't blink? I'm frankly shocked! I thought the recalibration would be to adjust for minor angular differences between an old and a new camera... I never thought the system could get its AI mind around an entirely different viewpoint!
Right?! I have to say I'm skeptical that it's going to work properly. It would be interesting to see how it handles the lines in a parking lot - whether the overhead view is now compromised or less accurate. And also whether the tracking lines it shows in reverse are still as accurate as before. Because not only is the camera up higher, it's also further forward than before. I would really expect that the AI needs to know the XYZ location of the camera to do what it does. If this actually works, it suggests something quite surprising about the AI being able to reorient itself in threespace and function properly.
