I can also start a rumor or wishful thinking-as an early reservation holder, really love the Cybertruck but not that size. Tesla is about to begin a smaller trim Cybertruck.:p

Probably one of the best assessments I’ve read on the FS / demand.

All this said… I saw another post of yours that you have pulled the trigger on FS knowing that non-FS was around the corner. I’d be interested (and I’d imagine others who are on the fence) in why you decided to pull the trigger now vs wait?

For me, I also pulled the trigger knowing non FS will be here in 7 months. I ordered now due to timing of needing a new car and assigning value to the FS options. I wanted FSD (including auto park in this giant), the all terrains and home backup. That’s not worth $20k.. maybe 12-15? So in my head my impatience tax is 5-8k to get the car now vs a year from now. Not a lot when I’m an old man looking back at this.

That’s my justification for dropping $100k and sticking to it!
Similar reasoning, but I AM an old man now, so that made a lot of difference to me, along with not qualifying for a tax credit, having it for more than a month now while the weather is great rather than who knows when was worth the extra money.

Dont forget folks that there is a delta between the amount of profit the foundation tax nets tesla vs potential sales that the far more appealing 80K non foundation truck gets them. Seeing how many people who are years down the list are both receiving invitations and opting to not order, we may be approaching the magic ratio.
I wonder if they will stop before my 117xxx number

Yeah when the price drops the orders are going way up. There’s probably at least 50k trucks that will be ordered.
Having a RN 117xxx, knowing a lot are passing and are gonna flood the Non FS when the orders hit, my chance to have a CT before 2026/2027 might be through the FS….

So how long until you get your non-foundation configure email? Even if they do start in January 2025, you won't get a non-FSCT configure email until 2027?
This is my dilemma .. if I indeed get a FS offer, I may have to take it or wait till late 2026/2027 (RN 117xxx

What happens when there are 10,000 unallocated trucks with "Foundation Series" laser etched on the body panels?

Every auto manufacturer in the world has had “leftover” vehicles at one time or another. They sell them. That is why cars are made.

Are you forgetting there are 2 million plus reservations? I don't see the word "Limited" in Foundation Series. The only limit is the number of people willing to buy the FS. Let's say reservation number 2 million gets his opportunity to order a FSCT today. He has a choice, he can spend $20k extra now, get a truck now, or wait years until the guys with earlier reservations configure and receive their standard CT. FWIW, I believe Tesla will offer the FSCT to every last one of the reservation holders before offering a non-Foundation series CT to anyone (am I repeating myself?). I believe a new buyer could place a reservation today and get his FSCT before the first in line for a non-Foundation Series buyer gets his CT.
100% agree! It's a great way to manage demand too. Also don't expect when they transition that there will be a time lag- they'll get the last foundation series built and sold then they will turn on the non series....

Seems to be more than just cosmetics.. this will make things interesting.

new Tri-motor is kind of ... a middle-finger ??

Yes, the refreshed 2025 R1 models will be revealed on Thursday.

It's mostly under the skin improvements with mild exterior updates to headlights, wheels, a brand new heat pump, trim levels, etc.

Will Rivian announce a 1,000+ HP Quad Motor?

With how weird Tesla has gotten, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just sit on low volume FS CTs with next to zero communication to the world or the SC people. It’s such a stupid move because they are losing the new model sales momentum.
