New: Y Standard AWD - 42k is a bargain for all that it offers. It hits a really nice sweet spot of price/capability.

Used: 23 RWD 3 - They are coming in off leases with 10-35k mi and are ~22-24k. The LFP batteries are incredibly durable and will last a long time. The 23s had most of the kinks worked out of the initial run of Model 3. Now when the early highland M3 LFP packs come back off lease, those will be the real bargains as they will have AI4.

Pre-refresh Y is hard to beat.

I picked up a used 2023 Model Y Performance from Tesla and it was like-new inside and out. Had about all of the updates to the first-generation Y including the better suspension, padded door pockets, updated phone chargers, etc. and it was/is one heck of a vehicle for the money. The only thing I missed was ventilated seats, the pleather can get a little sweaty. A snap-in sunshade for the pano roof helped quite a bit.

This was my one year review:
Those HW4 cars just don’t seemed to be that cheap for a now discontinued shape. At 20-35k it makes you wonder why you’re not buying a new one.

If you're eligible for any state tax incentives, then new may be the way to go if HW4 and FSD matter to you (they don't for everyone).

I had a friend who recently purchased a 2019 Model 3 for his son in college across the country. Why? No worries for my friend about his son properly maintaining the car. Just plug it in and go.

For a lot of folks, a sub-$20K or 25K Model 3 or Y that comes with a one-year Tesla warranty is going to be a solid play even if they are looking at a 2019/2020 HW3 vehicle. It's a lot of vehicle for money.

Fair. I just think of FSD doesn’t matter to you then you obviously don’t “get” driving a Tesla yet.
For me, it’s the single best reason not to buy anything else. Rivian, Chevy or whatever.
There is also the big question mark of what Tesla is going to do about hw3 cars with purchased FSD. Clear as mud right now.
That’s what really surprises me about them being stingy with transfers.

Don't sleep on HW3 cars with the AMD chip. The Intel cars? meh. But the AMD ones are plenty capable.

Here is a quick example from my old 2021 Model S running FSD 12 a few years ago. Never saw this one coming.

Wow… I’m just wondering what happens when they go unsupervised and they have already said HW3 won’t do that.
They are already not running 14. Or am I wrong in that?

In NA, the 22-23 standard range/RWD cars a guaranteed to have the LFP. In late 21 the standard range cars got the LFP battery, but 21s had a mix. In 24, the early highland standard range (called RWD) had LFP, but Q2 (iffy on the exact timing) they switched over to a RWD with the full LG/Panasonic packs. So a M3 RWD with less than 280mi of range is a LFP car. 25 didn't have a standard range.

The Y in NA has never had a LFP pack. In other markets it has existed.
