The math is easy for Tesla.

They'll hit the charts to determine which version they can sell every single one of, at their fastest build rate, and highest margin throughout 2024.

That's what will drive the price. The ramp causes low volume so the money made has to be maximized.
Some believe they may be forced to make a dual motor and wait for the 4680 to meet expectations to be able to hit 500 miles of range in a cost effective way.

Who knows?

I thought we'd know a little bit more at this point, but I guess that's part of the fun.

Huh, it's kinda like the Model S Plaid was never suggested to have Model Y-like prices.

Elon also keeps reiterating the price and specs has changed... and he is concerned about affordability... he never said that about 3/Y....

What changed?

They had no idea what it would take to manufacture it.
They didn't in 2019.

Elon has said this numerous times over the years.
No, he hasn't.

They also had plans for the 4680 to have this great energy density.
The point of the 4680 was always speeding up manufacturing. Not density. If you thought it was density, you weren't reading the slides correctly.

They haven't come close to it in the MY AWD and Elon doesn't know when they will.
No, but we also haven't seen what their cells are at this year, either.

100% the prices are higher than in 2019. Elon said it in plain English last year.
Why would 2019 be relevant? They weren't selling the Cybertruck in 2019. They were going to sell it in 2022.

How high? No one knows, but if Elon really introduces a 4 motor Plaid version with rear wheel steering, it will 100% be more expensive as no one of that was promised at first and then they can say, "we didn't raise prices".
If they do make a Plaid Cybertruck, it won't be the only model they announce.

So:
They HAVE to come out with a cost effective version as well. It's essential or it will be like the S/X.

I think they will.
Then you agree with my conclusion.

Elon also keeps reiterating the price and specs has changed... and he is concerned about affordability... he never said that about 3/Y....
Yes, he did.

Also, why would he say it needs to be affordable... And then not make an affordable one? Why would he harp on affordability if he wasn't focused on that part?

Just curious what everyone's opinion is on how much you are willing to pay for a CT before saying it's not worth it.
If it's Over 80k order #1 is out, probably #2 as well. Maybe by the time order #3 comes up, the prices will start dropping. It won't be all bad news, though, at least I own a lot of TSLA stock and exploiting early tech adopters is proven profitable.

Tri Motor + FSD reservation here, about 140k in queue.

If they hit the specs with range/towing/design features or improve upon them (plaid quad motor, etc) then I'm all in up to $120-130k! I just dont want to wait any longer!

This is how I feel every time Elon talks about Cyber Truck pricing. . .
giphy.gif
i wouldn't assume when Elon is hesitant about demand it is about the PRICE.. he has mentioned macro economic situation in EVERY public talk for the last year... i think he is worried about interest rates...

lets look at inital costs the tri-motor was 60k or so originally
at 1.9% your payment would have been 882.39 high but doable..
at 539% where auto loans will be when the truck comes out that payment is 991.00.. and if the price has to go up by 10 percent to say 66k it is over 1000 dollars

I think THAT is why he is worried about demand.. it isn't that the trucks are going up a huge amount it is that interest rates have ALREADY gone up a huge amount.. and as many have pointed out.. people buy what they can afford the monthly payment for.. not on the sticker price.
