Why are 15,000 mile CT’s selling for MSRP on Carvana?

Just for the hell of it, I got a quote from Carvana for my 2024 Foundation CyberBeast with low mileage. There's no way to let them know about everything it came with, such as FSD and connectivity, white interior, etc etc. At any rate, the quote was for $80K and change. Nowhere close to the original price...Oh well, it was just a data point for me as I'm not selling...

How many miles? Actually I don't think that offer is bad at all when you can get a new Premium AWD for the same cost or a new Beast 2 years newer for $20K more. FSD status would be nice to take into consideration but connectivity and white interior isn't going to really move the needle.

Foundation series were always going to take a nice hit when the price of the vehicle lowered. That was the price of admission.

I've considered buying from Carvana.
Mostly because of the hoops I need to jump through to buy directly from Tesla. Carvana makes it 100x easier.

When my Cybertruck eventually gets built I have to drive about 700 miles round trip to pick it up. On the way, I will pass half a dozen delivery centers but they are not authorized to either register or sell to an out of state buyer and the car dealership cartel that controls who sells and who can't sell in Maine will not allow Teslas. This is not a Tesla problem, I get that. It is a dealership cartel problem but as a result, the whole process is big pain in the ass.

The only reason I'm putting up with it (I've cancelled a Model 3 years ago when I found about the delivery issues) is the $59,990 price. If they were still $72k I would absolutely consider Carvana. I've dealt with them twice and it was soooo easy.

Another data point. Carvana is a great service for sellers, very easy to use, and the price they offer for cars has been pretty good (higher than Tesla, for sure). But after having sold two Teslas to them, I don't think I would buy a car from them. My cars were great, it's not like I was trying to sell a lemon, but they don't really spend much of any time inspecting the cars when I dropped them off. They verify mileage, etc., but there is definitely very little to no vetting going on with the cars that they bought from me. Anyways, my tip for the day...

I've never had any new car dealer do more than eyeball the car I was trading in.
Same with everyone I know. It isn't like they are pulling compression/leak down tests or analyzing the oil....

They walk around the car, check the mileage, title/lien holder and done ;-)

Maybe you don't know-Carvana offers a 7-day money back guarantee if you find issues with the car after you take delivery. No regrets!

My wife and I have bought 4 new Tesla from Tesla. We have no idea what you are talking about, every purchase from Tesla was far easier, less stressful and less time consuming than ANY purchase from a traditional auto dealer. I'm sure a few people have been pissed off due to a delay in getting their new car from Tesla, but it's the exception, not the rule. Most sales go off without a hitch worth mentioning.

Lifetime FSD and immediate delivery are probably big motivators for people paying MSRP for Cybertrucks. You can't even get lifetime FSD anymore and I suspect sales of CTs with lifetime FSD are helping buoy sale prices of those without, due to some buyers being ignorant of the value of lifetime FSD.
We had a crap experience at delivery. Truck was 3 hours late. We held back the down payment till someone helped us figure out how the thing worked (it’s our first electric car). We made them buff out 3 scratches and note a few other issues to fix later.

We’ve bought used ever since just to avoid the delivery experience

Unlucky, I guess. But that sounds pleasant compared to my dealership purchases! I would rather have a root canal!

My previous vehicle purchase have been through Costco. I’ve found their prices to be better than any dealership “sale”.

I picked out what I wanted on the Costco website, a local dealer with the vehicle called and said they had it, scheduled a time to buy it, I was given a salesperson to explain all the options the car had, since the price was pre-negotiated through Costco I wrote a check and left.

I was shocked that the Costco buying process was easier than Tesla.
