I have to agree, it is not great. I hate how it hangs so far back. I constantly have people passing me in the other lane and then going in front of me. Then on a 2,000 mile road trip I had two instances were it fantom braked hard.

Just to be Mr. Obvious:

I may be dating myself here, but to solve these issues there is a simple solution until Tesla releases an acceptabe update to FSD for the CT:

Drive the vehicle yourself. ?

It’s the first drive by wire rear wheel steering pickup ever. Drive it and enjoy driving it because you have an opportunity not many people have at the moment that is fairly remarkable. It will leave you in a better position to appreciate whatever release of FSD finally nails it whenever that happens anyway.

Just food for thought.

Enjoy your trucks!

Cheers

We are driving the truck ourselves, there is no autosteer.
However, there is a lot of power in that right pedal and very little road or motor noise to alert you to 10 MPH speed variances (even with sound system off). So cruise would be a handy feature to have work properly.

1000 miles in on my CT (and my first Tesla)

I absolutely love everything about this truck…. EXCEPT…

the “traffic aware” cruise control.

WHY on earth does it just randomly slam on the brakes? Why does it slow down for a yellow flashing light on the side of the road… why OH why is it so bad?

Somebody please tell me it gets better somehow?? I miss my wife's Kia when it comes to cruise control. (Not to mention Lane keep).

looking for some genuine answers here, not some Elon fanboy stuff (no offense). Thanks all!
Do you have a destination in the gps it will slow down for turns to keep route?
Also it slows or stops for lights and stop signs.

I drove about 300 miles yesterday mostly highway from Seattle to Vancouver BC , actually found the cruise control was surprisedly good . It was a better driver than me most of time while following the traffic in 60-80 mph speed limit zone It was very good in low speed following like below 40 mph speed limit zone

but it was kind annoying when in stop and go traffic in 40-55 mph speed zone, it accelerated fast tying to reach the speed limit than stopped abruptly in the traffic, I finally took it over.

The issue of slowing down in curves is not just the Cybertruck. Our 2020 X does the same thing when taking some curves through a mountain pass. It has done this from way prior to FSD and still does it today.

I don’t know the logic behind why it does this but I’d guess it is to “keep the occupants safe” or some such :)

I agree! Coming from a 1998 dodge ram that had nothing! I think it’s pretty amazing and really cool! And it’s only gonna get better!

Model S since June 2020. Have tried various monthly subscriptions of FSD. Currently 12.3.6 works quite well in the city, but not highway. I understand that it is NOT single stack. Right now AP and FSD are unusable on roads with heat mirages in southern AZ, which is all of the time in summer. I share the frustration. Phantom braking is very dangerous.

2,000 miles in 30 days in a NEW Cadillac Lyriq and I experienced 2 Phantom braking events.
Both were in city driving and one almost caused an accident. I’m anxious to get my CT but not excited about the possibility of experiencing more Phantom braking.

Wow there’s a subreddit for Cybertruck haters and not only that but there are 100k members lol. If only they invested half the time they do in hating Cybertrucks into something beneficial for them, maybe they could afford $120,000 like many of us can lol.

Listen there’s some cars I don’t like as well but I can never imagine people (can’t call them adults) forming a community just to hate on a single car lol I honestly feel embarrassed for them. Sad life some people live.
